Greece vs Republic of Ireland prediction: Hosts to extend winning streak?
Key Stats
- Greece’s 2-1 win over England last week was their third victory on the spin in the Nations League.
- Greece beat Ireland 2-0 when the teams last met in Dublin in September.
- Greece have conceded just one goal in three games at the start of the new Nations League campaign.
- Vangelis Pavlidis scored twice for Greece in their historic win over England at Wembley Stadium.
Correct score prediction: Greece 2-0 Republic of Ireland
Greece scored two goals in each of their last two Nations League victories and won of those wins was secured at Ireland’s expense in Dublin last month (2-0). A repeat result for the in-form Greeks should be achievable here against a toothless Irish outfit.
Pre-game odds and win probability: Markets favour Greece
- HOME: 3/4 (1.75) – 57.1%
- DRAW: 2/1 (3.00) – 33.3%
- AWAY: 15/4 (4.75) – 21.1%

Greece enjoyed a historic first win over England in their last outing, taking their run to three victories in as many Nations League fixtures since September. Buoyed by their win over the Three Lions, the Greeks look like top value at 3/4 to beat Ireland in Piraeus.
Ireland enjoyed a rousing comeback win over Finland last Thursday evening, though that was only their second win since last October and having already lost once to Greece since the summer, the 15/4 underdogs could toil again here. Most recent H2Hs: Greece have been dominant
Greece eased to a 2-0 win over Ireland when the teams met in Dublin last month and that was their fourth triumph in a row over the Boys in Green since 2012.

Republic of Ireland preview: Scales, Cullen and Ferguson to start?

Player to watch – Vangelis Pavlidis
Striker Vangelis Pavlidis wrote his name into Greek footballing folklore last week when he scored twice in his country’s historic 2-1 win over England and the Benfica attacker should be brimming with self-belief against Ireland after his impact.

Pavlidis is a goal-scoring threat
Pavlidis had gone 17 appearances for Greece without scoring before his brace at Wembley Stadium, so with that record snapped, the 25-year-old should be able to play with a bit more confidence against the Boys in Green.
