Girona vs Barcelona predictions: Goals expected

Key stats

  • At least five goals were scored in four the last five encounters between these sides.
  • The last five H2Hs have all featured goals at both ends.
  • Barcelona won the last three skirmishes between these outfits.

Correct score prediction: Girona 1-4 Barcelona

Although Barcelona are coming off a humiliating 4-0 defeat at the hands of Atletico Madrid, they have been excellent over the course of the season and have won 17 of their last 19 matches across all competitions.

On the other hand, Girona are currently on a three-match winless run. They have also lost three consecutive meetings with Barcelona, two of which ended 4-1.

Taking everything into account, we are confident that Barcelona will return to winning ways.

Pre-game odds and win probability: Barcelona clearly favoured

  • HOME: 5/1 (6.00) – 16.7%
  • DRAW: 9/2 (5.50) – 18.2%
  • AWAY: 2/5 (1.40) – 71.4%

Barcelona's winning streak ended with a disappointing 4-0 defeat against Atletico Madrid in the first round of their Copa del Rey semifinal tie. They will now turn their attention to the Spanish top flight, where they trail archrivals Real Madrid by two points.

Girona, on the other hand, played out a 1-1 draw with Sevilla in their last outing. They have no wins in three consecutive matches and are 14th in La Liga ahead of this skirmish with second-placed Barcelona.

Bearing that in mind, Barcelona are the expected winners at 2/5 (1.40). Teams with these odds generally have a 71.4% probability of winning.

Also, keeping in mind that four of the last five clashes between these teams went above the 3.5-goal threshold, over 3.5 total goals has an appealing look at 9/10 (1.90). That one has a 52.6% chance of landing.

Most recent H2Hs: Barcelona's dominance to continue?

Girona suffered a 2-1 defeat in the reverse fixture last October. They have lost three consecutive encounters between these teams, scoring exactly one goal in each loss.

Girona preview: Plagued by injuries

Girona will enter Matchday 24 with the worst injury crisis among the teams in Spain's top flight. Marc-Andre ter Stegen, who joined on loan from Barcelona in January, has picked up a hamstring injury, which could see him miss the remainder of the season.

Elsewhere, cruciate ligament injuries to Donny van de Beek and Portu mean that both players are ruled out for the remainder of the season, while Juan Carlos (knee), Fran Beltran (foot), and Alex Moreno (calf) are still nursing those aforementioned injuries, with Azzedine Ounahi not particularly sure of his chances this weekend due to a calf issue.

Predicted lineup: Gazzaniga (GK), Rincon, Reis, Blind, Martinez, Witsel, Martin, Tsygankov, Lemar, Gil & Vanat.

Last five matches

  • 08/02/26: Sevilla 1-1 Girona (La Liga)
  • 31/01/26: Real Oviedo 1-0 Girona (La Liga)
  • 26/01/26: Girona 1-1 Getafe (La Liga)
  • 16/01/26: Espanyol 0-2 Girona (La Liga)
  • 10/01/26: Girona 1-0 Osasuna (La Liga)

Barcelona preview: Looking to return to winning ways

The visitors are not expected to have Pedri back in the squad until 23 February due to a hamstring injury.

Veteran defender Andreas Christensen and long-term absentee midfielder Gavi are also ruled out of contention on Monday night.

Raphinha has yet to feature for Barcelona in February due to a lingering groin problem, and he's still a doubt for this game at the time of writing, while Marcus Rashford, who missed the humiliating midweek defeat to Atleti in the Copa del Rey because of a knee issue, could be rushed back into action in the final third here.

Predicted lineup: J. Garcia (GK), Kounde, E. Garcia, Cubarsi, Balde, Lopez, De Jong, Olmo, Yamal, Lewandowski & Rashford.

Last five matches

  • 12/02/26: Atletico Madrid 4-0 Barcelona (Copa del Rey)
  • 07/02/26: Barcelona 3-0 Mallorca (La Liga)
  • 03/02/26: Albacete 1-2 Barcelona (Copa del Rey)
  • 31/01/26: Elche 1-3 Barcelona (La Liga)
  • 28/01/26: Barcelona 4-1 Copenhagen (UEFA Champions League)
