Round three of the 2025-26 EFL Trophy group-stage matches sees Gillingham welcome Wycombe to the Priestfield Stadium on Tuesday evening.
With both teams currently level on points, they have their knockout destiny firmly in their hands, but only one will make it through from Group G alongside Colchester, who have already booked their place in the next round.

Gillingham vs Wycombe prediction: Hard-fought victory for visitors
Key stats
- Wycombe have scored the opening goal in six of their last seven matches.
- During that run, the League One outfit have unsurprisingly gone into the interval ahead on all but two occasions.
- Five of Gillingham's last seven outings have seen both teams find the back of the net.
Correct score prediction: Gillingham 1-2 Wycombe
Wycombe's tendency to start games on the front foot is a huge advantage for them, especially in a game of Tuesday's magnitude.
While we expect a close game nonetheless, we can see the away side fending off the threat of their hosts to secure a crunch win in this winner-takes-all contest.
Pre-game odds and win probability: Wycombe well-fancied by a considerable distance
- HOME: 27/10 (3.70) – 27%
- DRAW: 12/5 (3.40) – 29.4%
- AWAY: 10/11 (1.91) – 52.4%
*Odds from Ladbrokes, subject to change
After winning four home matches in a row between August 19 and September 13, Gillingham are winless in the subsequent three, and a meagre 27% win probability here suggests things are unlikely to change on Tuesday.
However, Gareth Ainsworth's men will head into the clash on a high, having recently snapped a seven-game losing streak, during which they suffered six defeats, by narrowly defeating Bristol Rovers 1-0 on Saturday.
On the other hand, Wycombe are unbeaten in three of their last four matches away from home and have won all of their cup away encounters this term, so it is no surprise that Michael Duff's men are considered favourites with a 52.4% chance of coming out on top.

Most recent H2Hs: One win in five for Gillingham
Tuesday's clash will see Gillingham and Wycombe face off in a cup setting for the first time in two decades, with each of their last 10 meetings coming in league action.
A 2-0 triumph back in October 2021 remains the hosts' only victory in the last five clashes between the teams, although they have not faced off since 2022.

Gillingham preview: Jake Turner to continue in goal with Glenn Morris still sidelined
After coming off injured five minutes into Gillingham's 2-1 defeat to Salford, Glenn Morris has missed the subsequent two matches and is not expected to be back in time for Tuesday.
Euan Williams (shoulder) and Conor Masterson (calf) are also unavailable for the home side, while Armani Little is still nursing a muscle problem.
Predicted lineup: Turner(GK), Clark, Gale, Smith, Hutton, Khumbeni, McKenzie, Coleman, Nevitt, Andrews & Palmer-Houlden
Gillingham's last five matches:
- Bristol Rovers 0-1 Gillingham (League Two)
- Newport 2-2 (4-3 on pens) Gillingham (FA Cup)
- Gillingham 1-2 Salford (League Two)
- Grimsby 1-0 Gillingham (League Two)
- Gillingham 1-1 Cheltenham (League Two)
Wycombe preview: Josh Scowen still awaiting first outing of the campaign
Battling with a knee problem since the back end of April, long-term absentee Scowen has not featured for Wycombe this term.
The 32-year-old is one of four guaranteed absentees for the visitors here alongside George Abbott, Taylor Allen and Niall Huggins.
Predicted lineup: Norris(GK), Grimmer, Casey, Hagelskjaer, Harvie, Leahy, Henderson, Onyedinma, Mullins, Bell & Woodrow
Wycombe's last five matches:
- Wycombe 4-1 Leyton Orient (League One)
- Wycombe 2-0 Plymouth (FA Cup)
- Wycombe 1-1 (4-5 on pens) Fulham (EFL Cup)
- Wycombe 3-0 Huddersfield (League One)
- Blackpool 1-1 Wycombe (League One)
Player to watch – Fred Onyedinma
Following his double against Leyton Orient, Onyedinma has now scored three goals in his last three starts for Wycombe ahead of their trip to Gillingham.
The Nigerian is now up to five goals for the campaign, just one fewer than he managed throughout the entire last season.

However, despite all of Onyeedinma's recent exploits, he is without a goal away from home since September 19, but you would not bet against him ending that run here.
