Benfica vs Gil Vicente team news

Benfica

Benfica put in a four-star performance away at Estrela on Monday night. Despite slipping behind in the twenty-eighth minute, Benfica went in at the break 2-1 up thanks to goals from Arthur Cabral and Rafa. Veteran defender Nicolas Otamendi made it 3-1 early in the second half and in stoppage time, Marcos Leonardo wrapped up a 4-1 victory for the visitors.

Juan Bernat and Casper Tengstedt are the two main injury concerns for the hosts this weekend.

Predicted Lineup: Trubin (GK), Otamendi, Morato, Silva, Di María, Mário, Aursnes, Rafa, Kökçü, Neves & Cabral

Gil Vicente

Gil Vicente secured a very good 1-0 win at home to Vitoria Guimaraes last weekend. This game looked like it was going to end goalless as both teams cancelled one another out but with five minutes left on the clock, Maxime Dominguez sent the home fans into hysterics as Gil Vicente won the game and moved onto twenty-two points for the season.

Kiko Vilas Boas is yet to make an appearance for Gil Vicente this season and the midfielder isn't expected back from injury until early March.

Predicted Lineup: Andrew (GK), Fernandes, Zé Carlos, Buta, Pereira, Dominguez, Fujimoto, Castillo, Neto, Murilo & Correia

Player to Watch: Rafa

Benfica's Rafa has arguably been the club's best player this season.

The Portuguese international joint-top scores in the league for Benfica with seven goals alongside Angel Di Maria. However, it's not just scoring goals that Rafa has played his part in this season, the  30-year-old has nine assists to his name, five more than any of his teammates, making Rafa the key creative force in this Benfica side.

We're backing Rafa to put in another top performance this weekend, helping to guide Benfica to another three points in their bid to retain the league title.
