Georgia vs Czech Republic prediction, odds & betting tips – 22/06/2024

Georgia's debut at Euro 2024 might have ended in defeat but there were many positives for the minnows to build upon heading into the Czech Republic match.

Turkey ran out 3-1 winners in the end but Georgia had their chances and could have come away with a share of the spoils in what was one of the most entertaining matches of the competition.

Similarly, the Czech Republic will have been disappointed to lose their opener against Portugal so late in the game and will be looking to bounce back with a win this weekend.

Last five H2Hs: First-ever encounter

Georgia and the Czech Republic meet for the very first time in their history on Saturday, and we're expecting the game to be very entertaining.

Georgia preview: Lessons to be learned

Willy Sagnol's side will have learned plenty of lessons from their first game in tournament football. Georgia gave as good as they got against Turkey but lacked composure in front of goal which cost them a share of the spoils.

We're expecting Georgia to play open, attacking football once again this weekend but they will have to take their chances if they are to avoid defeat against a well-organised Czech side that boasts plenty of experience.

Predicted lineup: Mamardashvili (GK), Kashia, Kverkvelia, Kakabadze, Dvali, Kochorashvili, Chakvetadze, Tsitaishvili, Mekvabishvili, Kvaratskhelia & Mikautadze

Czech Republic preview: Have to open up more

The Czech Republic only have themselves to blame for a late defeat against Portugal on matchday one. Ivan Hašek's men took the lead against Portugal but poor goalkeeping and some shoddy defending saw the Czech Republic lose 2-1.

However, the Czechs showed plenty of signs during that defeat that they have what it takes to progress through to the knockout stage but will need to be braver going forward against a Georgian side that will give you chances to score if you put pressure on their defence.

Predicted lineup: Staněk (GK), Coufal, Holeš, Krejčí, Douděra, Hranáč, Provod, Souček, Šulc, Schick & Kuchta

Player to watch – Khvicha Kvaratskhelia

Georgia's star player performed well against Turkey but there is certainly more to come from the Napoli midfielder.

Khvicha Kvaratskhelia has an excellent goalscoring record for his country, netting 15 times in 31 caps. The 23-year-old moved to Napoli in 2022 and has shined for the Italian club with 23 goals in 68 Serie A appearances.

Will Georgia's star player shine on Saturday?

We're backing Georgia's key man to stand up when called upon this weekend and help guide his country to their first point in an international tournament.
