Fulham head into their final game of the Premier League season on Sunday aiming to finish in the top half, having fallen just short in their previous two seasons.
With one game remaining of what may be Marco Silva's final term at the helm at Craven Cottage, they currently sit 13th having earned 49 points from their 37 outings, winning 14 and losing 16 of those.
They have limped towards the final day, though, losing three, drawing two and winning just one of their last six outings since the beginning of April including a pair of defeats and a 1-1 draw against already-relegated Wolves most recently, only earning a point at Molineux thanks to Antonee Robinson's penalty.
Returning to Craven Cottage for their final outing, with a two-point gap to 10th spot and only trailing Everton and Sunday's opponents on goal difference, Silva's men are still without Joachim Andersen due to a suspension, while Ryan Sessegnon is confined to the treatment room.
They will now bid to avenge a pair of defeats to Newcastle this season to leapfrog their opponents and stand a chance of snatching 10th spot on the final day with reports of Silva considering moving on over the summer.
Their visitors, meanwhile, also head into the final day with the top half in their sights, having moved ahead of their hosts and kept 10th place within touching distance thanks to an upturn in form in recent weeks.
Newcastle United looked all but confined to a bottom-half Premier League finish with four games remaining, but they now sit 11th with 49 points on the board and the exact same record as the hosts, winning 14, drawing seven and losing 16, including a 2-1 home victory in the reverse fixture in October before beating Fulham by the same scoreline in the EFL Cup quarter-finals.
Eddie Howe's side would end a five-game losing run by beating Brighton 3-1 at home, and after playing out a draw away at Nottingham Forest, they made it seven points from a possible nine at home to West Ham United last weekend, winning 3-1 thanks to Nick Woltemade's opener and Will Osula's brace.
They now head into the final day two points behind rivals Sunderland in the top half but still unable to call on Joelinton, Tino Livramento and Fabian Schar, while Sandro Tonali could also miss out with a knock in what may be the only enforced change from the Magpies' starting XI last weekend.
Unable to return to the European stage in what has been an underwhelming league campaign, Newcastle United will at least bid to end on a high with a chance to finish in the top half with a win at Craven Cottage.

Whispers predicts: Fulham 1-2 Newcastle United
Newcastle United have conceded in each of their last eight matches while only failing to score in one of those. Both Teams to Score is priced at 8/15.
Will Osula has scored five goals in Newcastle's last six Premier League games and will again get the chance to lead a dangerous attack on Sunday after his brace last time out. He can be backed to score anytime at 13/8.
Both teams have seen more than 10 corners on average in their league games this season, while we may see an open game with little to compete for other than a possible top-half spot. We fancy over 10 corners at 10/11.
> Both Teams to Score at 8/15 | Likelihood: Likely
> Will Osula to score anytime at 13/8 | Likelihood: Possible
> Over 10 corners at 10/11 | Likelihood: Probable
