France were arguably fortunate to escape their clash with Italy on Friday with a point, as while they fought to keep the score level at 1-1, the Italians had the better chances in the game.

New head coach Zinedine Zidane did not field Kylian Mbappe due to a knee issue, so it was somewhat understandable that his team looked blunt in the final third.

A win for Les Bleus would not guarantee a top-two finish, but it would cement their place in the top three, while also giving them at least a three-point advantage over second place with just six points left to play for.

The hosts will be without Dayot Upamecano at the back because he was sent off late against Italy, so expect to see Jeremy Jacquet partnered by Maxence Lacroix.

Belgium were largely dominant against Turkey, though it may be a concern that they could have conceded from set pieces on more than one occasion.

Boss Mark van Bommel has only been in charge of the nation since the end of the 2026 World Cup, and he has undoubtedly made a positive start, especially considering he inherited a team that had failed to make the most of its golden generation.

Belgium have often faced France, though they have lost each of their last six meetings with their hosts, including when they suffered a 1-0 defeat in the Nations League on September 28.

Unfortunately for the Red Devils, both Kevin De Bruyne and Youri Tielemans will miss out after the duo picked up yellow cards against Turkey, and their absences could be filled by Romeo Lavia and Hans Vanaken.

Whispers predicts: France 2-1 Belgium

With Les Bleus playing at home, the bookmakers view a France win favourably, pricing a French victory at 8/15 (1.53).

Given both teams have scored in each of France's last three home games, it may make sense to predict Both Teams to Score at 4/7 (1.57).

France have failed to score more than two goals in six of their past seven fixtures, so it would be sensible to predict Under 2.5 Goals for France at 8/15 (1.53).

While France's Michael Olise is known for his creativity, he has already scored twice in the Nations League, so perhaps a bet backing Michael Olise to Score at 13/8 (2.63) could be the way to go.
