Florian Wirtz's performances for Bayer Leverkusen and Germany in 2024 grabbed the attention of the world's biggest clubs, and now Real Madrid are prepared to pay a whopping €130 million to sign him from the German champions.

That is according to Spanish website as.com, who have not named their source, but can be trusted to an extent.

Value (2.5/5): Real Madrid's other proposed business helps out

Having burst onto the scene with Xabi Alonso's side last season, the jury is still out on whether the attacking midfielder is going to be a star in the long haul, so the price looks high for the kid who won't turn 22 until May.

However, not only is Wirtz valued at €130 million, but Real are lining up free transfers elsewhere, such as Jonathan Tah, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Alphonso Davies, who will all be out-of-contract in the summer. Should the Madrid side land all four players and only pay €130 million in transfer fees, that would be one heck of a window!

Suitability (2/5): Hard to see where Wirtz fits in

If you are going to pay over €100 million for a player, even if you are Real Madrid, it should be obvious to see where he is going to play.

Under the 4-3-3 system that Carlo Ancelotti has been trying of late, there does not seem to be space for Wirtz at the Bernabeu. Even if they do revert back to a similar system to last year, then surely that number 10 role will be Jude Bellingham's?

Upgrade? (2/5): Wirtz would be a rotation option

With Jude Bellingham the first choice and Brahim Diaz a suitable back-up, Wirtz cannot be considered an upgrade at attacking midfield. One hope for the German could be if Bellingham moves further back into central midfield, freeing up his preferred place.

Logic (3/5): Real Madrid always a big draw

The idea of playing week-in, week-out at the Bernabeu will naturally be a draw for Wirtz, following in the footsteps of compatriots Antonio Rudiger and Toni Kroos.

But given the recent interest in him, he may be better off waiting for an offer from a club that wants to make him the lynchpin in the team, rather than part of a stable of attackers.
