Feyenoord aiming to move past PSV for the top spot
Feyenoord has the fewest losses in the league this season, only one, and that happened against PSV. They seem very consistent in the way they are approaching their games, managing expectations, and getting important wins like the one at AZ Alkmaar. The only thing that they lack is the same efficiency as Ajax or PSV who scored a lot more goals, but on the other hand, Feyenoord is winning matches, and that is the only thing that matters. The Rotterdam side is fortunate enough to coast throughout the season without many injury problems, and the fact they played in European competition only makes it more satisfying to be this close to the top in Eredivisie. Danilo, Feyenoord's biggest summer signing will look to increase his goal tally before the big season break. He currently has eight goals on the record, only one less than the league's leading scorer Cody Gakpo from PSV.
Feyenoord's predicted starting 11: Bijlow, Geetrtruida, Trauner, Hancko, Hartman, Timber, Szymanski, Kokcu, Dilrosun, Danilo, Paixao.
After beating AZ Alkmaar, Excelsior failed twice in a row endangering their position in the fight to avoid the relegation battle. They are only three points in front of Emmen who is the first team behind the relegation zone line. Excelsior lost three out of their last four matches, but are especially troublesome when playing away from home. They are the third worst team in that aspect with only four points earned out of seven matches. They are also allowing too many goals at 21 while scoring only seven. Coming into the Feyenoord match, they will at least try to avoid another big loss to finish the first part of the season.
Excelsior's predicted starting 11: van Gassel, Tjoe a On, Seymor, el Yaakoubi, Horemans, Ayoub, Baas, Lamprou, Goudmijn, Azarkan, Kharchouch.
Team News:
Feyenoord: Oussama Idrissi is injured.
Excelsior: Sven Nieuwpoort is doubtful.
