The Faroe Islands have built genuine momentum over the past year, and another positive result against Kazakhstan would provide an encouraging start to their latest Nations League campaign.

Klakstein's team finished third in the Baltic Cup during their most recent international window, losing 1-0 to Estonia before responding with a 1-0 victory over Latvia. 

Those results followed a 2-1 away success against San Marino in March, leaving the Faroese with seven victories from their last ten matches.

Their improvement has included some notable results, beating Montenegro 4-0 and Czechia 2-1 during their 2026 World Cup qualifying campaign before beating Kazakhstan 1-0 in a neutral-site friendly in November.

That victory over Kazakhstan came in Pula, Croatia, rather than Torshavn, with Knudsen settling the contest in the 25th minute, and the Faroese therefore have the added incentive of attempting to repeat that result on home soil this time.

There has been one late change to Klakstein's squad, with striker Pall Klettskard ruled out by a minor injury and Jorgen Nielsen called up as his replacement.

Kazakhstan, meanwhile, return to League C after their brief spell in League B ended with relegation in the previous Nations League cycle. 

They collected only one point from six matches and failed to score during that campaign, so the priority under their new management will be to produce a much stronger attacking output.

Their results since then have been mixed. Kazakhstan opened 2026 with FIFA Series victories over Namibia and Comoros before drawing 1-1 with Armenia and losing 3-1 to Hungary. 

Kazakhstan will also have to cope without Dastan Satpaev, who is sidelined with a thigh injury, while Islam Chesnokov is suspended for this match.
