Rangers have enjoyed a torrid start to the campaign, and there is no getting away from the fact that no European football is a disaster for the club, at least from a financial point of view.
However, as the season continues and Gers find themselves playing once a week, while Celtic are playing a Thursday-Sunday schedule in the Europa League, they may see it as a blessing in disguise.
Rangers are already playing catch-up in the league, and trail Celtic by five points. They can ill afford to drop any more points before the first Old Firm clash of the season later this month.
Despite winning three of their last four matches, Derek McInnes is still under early pressure as the new Rangers boss, so another three points are vital for him as much as they are for the club.
McInnes remains without Youssef Chermiti and Jose Cifuentes for this match, but has no fresh injury concerns.
As for Falkirk, there will be some concerns about where their first win of the season will come from after coming up short against Celtic at the weekend.
John McGlynn's side enjoyed a brilliant first season back in the top flight last season, and secured a top-six finish, but they now look more like a team that is going to be battling against relegation than pushing for Europe.
Falkirk's only wins this season have come against lower-league opposition in the League Cup, while their one and only goal in the league was an own goal, making it difficult to picture them turning Rangers over on Wednesday night.
McGlynn will be without seven first-team players for this one, with Aidan Nesbitt, Craig Sibbald, Ethan Laidlaw, Joe Gardner, Keelan Adams, Tom Lang and Finn Yeats all injured.
