Estoril are set to take on CD Nacional in the Primeira Liga this weekend with both teams looking to move further away from the relegation zone as the league table begins to take shape.
Estoril are on just two points after their first four matches with their main issues coming at the top end of the pitch with the goals and chances proving hard to come by.
CD Nacional are back in the top flight following their promotion last season and will be pleased with their start, picking up four points from their first four matches.
As part of our latest round of Primeira Liga bettings tips, here is our Estoril vs CD Nacional prediction.

Estoril vs CD Nacional prediction: The hosts to bounce back
Key stats
- CD Nacional have avoided defeat in two of their four matches this season.
- Estoril haven't won either of their home matches so far this season.
- Estoril have only scored once across their four league matches so far.
- Fewer than three goals have been scored in three of Nacional's four matches.
Correct score prediction: Estoril 1-1 CD Nacional
This shouldn't be a high-scoring match so don't expect fireworks if you are planning on tuning in on Sunday evening. Estoril haven't scored a goal since the opening day of the season and that was in a 4-1 home defeat to Santa Clara. Nacional, meanwhile, have only scored once in their two away league matches so far.
Pre-game odds and win probability: The hosts are narrow favourites
- Home: 5/4 (2.25) – 44.4%
- Draw: 23/10 (3.30) – 30.3%
- Away: 21/10 (3.10) – 32.3%
Estoril go in as the narrow favourites but the bookies are far from convinced hence why they haven't priced them odds on. A win for Estoril has been priced at 5/4 by Ladbrokes while a victory for CD Nacional has been priced at 21/10. The draw, which we are leaning towards, has been priced at 23/10.

In recent times, the team playing away from home in this fixture has had more joy and the team playing at home. The last three matches between Estoril and CD Nacional have all been won by the team playing away from home which bodes well for CD Nacional on Sunday.

Estoril Praia preview: Desperate for goals
If Estoril don't start finding more joy in front of goal then they are going to sink without trace as their defence won't be able to keep them ticking over forever. The 4-1 loss to Santa Clara seems to have spooked new manager, Ian Cathro, who has reverted a more conservative style in the games since.

Player to watch: Nigel Thomas
Nigel Thomas is one of the most intriguing players in the Primeira Liga in that he is somewhat of a throwback to a time before wingers were told to keep the ball at costs. The 23-year-old is an electric winger and one that has provides a goal threat at all times, even if his final product often leaves a lot to be desired.
Thomas is off the mark this season, though, after scoring against Sporting Lisbon three weeks ago and will be keen to prove he is a reliable asset in front of goal.
