Equatorial Guinea vs Sudan prediction: Relief for Nzalang Nacional
Key stats
- Sudan have lost their last three matches and have not won in four consecutive outings, highlighting their recent struggles.
- Slow starts have plagued Sudan, having allowed the first goal in four of their last five games.
- Low-scoring affairs have characterised Equatorial Guinea's most recent matches; four of the last five have ended with fewer than three goals.
Correct score prediction: Equatorial Guinea 2-0 Sudan
Equatorial Guinea have never suffered an AFCON group-stage exit, but losing this weekend would all but end that streak.
We are anticipating a fairly routine win for them to revive their hopes of reaching the knockout stages.

*Odds from Ladbrokes, subject to change
Equatorial Guinea, currently on a run of back-to-back defeats after a 2-1 defeat to Burkina Faso, have not lost three straight matches since 2018, so a return to winning ways could be on the cards on Sunday.
After their recent struggles, Juan Micha's men will head into the clash as favourites, with a 44.4% win probability, leaving Equatorial Guinea at 5/4 (2.25) to win.
Meanwhile, Sudan are not that far behind, holding a 32.3% chance of securing all three points in Casablanca.
James Kwesi Appiah's men are on a downward spiral at the moment as Wednesday's 3-0 loss to Algeria extended their losing run to three matches by a combined score of 8-1.

Equatorial Guinea preview: Carlos Akapo closing in on half-century of appearances
Akapo has been a reliable performer for Equatorial Guinea and is on course to reach 48 caps on Sunday, leaving him two shy of 50.
Basilio Ndong, one of only five players in the current squad to have featured on more occasions than Akapo, will not be able to add to his 61 outings as he serves a suspension after he was sent off last time out.
Predicted lineup: Owono (GK), Akapo, Orozco, Coco, Ondo, Salvador, Mascarell, Ganet, Asue, Zuniga & Machin
Equatorial Guinea's last five matches:
- Burkina Faso 2-1 Equatorial Guinea (Africa Cup of Nations)
- Madagascar 2-0 Equatorial Guinea (International Friendly)
- Kenya 0-1 Equatorial Guinea (International Friendly)
- Equatorial Guinea 1-1 Liberia (World Cup Qualifiers)
- Equatorial Guinea 0-1 Tunisia (World Cup Qualifiers)
Sudan preview: Salaheldin Adil ineligible to feature
With Sudan already trailing 1-0 against Algeria, Adil was sent off in the final knockings of the first half, effectively ending any hopes of his side mounting a comeback.
Consequently, the midfielder will sit out Sunday's game but will be back for the final group clash against Burkina Faso.
Predicted lineup: Elneel (GK), Khamis, Karshoum, Ahmed, Boshara, Omer, Abuaagla, Taifour, A Eisa, M Eisa & Mozamil
Sudan's last five matches:
- Algeria 3-0 Sudan (Africa Cup of Nations)
- Bahrain 3-1 Sudan (Arab Cup)
- Sudan 0-2 Iraq (Arab Cup)
- Algeria 0-0 Sudan (Arab Cup)
- Lebanon 1-2 Sudan (Arab Cup Qualifiers)
Player to watch – Mohamed Eisa
As his side struggled to muster any attacking impetus in their defeat to Algeria last time out, Eisa unsurprisingly cut a peripheral figure up front before he was subbed off midway through the second half.
However, the 31-year-old has shown how lethal he can be when given adequate chances, having scored eight times in 15 Thai League 1 outings for Uthai Thani.

More impressively, Eisa has missed just one clear-cut opportunity in that span and is definitely worth keeping an eye on here.
