England vs. Spain squads: Market values, most expensive players

England play world champions Spain in the Nations League at Wembley Stadium on Saturday night, in their first outing since beating France 6-4 in the third-place play-off at the World Cup this summer.

Having both reached the semi-finals with England losing 2-1 to Argentina and Spain beating France 2-0 before eventually defeating Argentina 1-0 in the final, both nations also rank in the top three Nations League squads ranked by market values, but how do their players compare?

England vs. Spain squads: Market values

England's squad has a higher market value (£1.53bn) than Spain's (£1.16n), and is the most expensive of all national teams.

Spain rank third overall, behind France (£1.25bn) in second.

Incidentally, the top five are all from UEFA, with Argentina (£825.17m) from the CONMEBOL in sixth.

England vs. Spain: Most expensive players

England's most expensive player is Jude Bellingham (£137.6m), followed by Bukayo Saka, Morgan Rogers and Elliot Anderson (all £94.6m).

Spain's most expensive player is Lamine Yamal (£189.2m), followed by Pedri (£129m), Fermin Lopez and Pau Cubarsi (both £86m).

Interestingly, Yamal is the joint-most expensive player in the world alongside Norway's Erling Haaland, while Bellingham is the fifth-most expensive.

England vs. Spain: Least expensive players

England's least expensive player is Jason Steele (£430k), followed by Jordan Pickford (£11.18m), Dominic Calvert-Lewin (£18.92m) and James Trafford (£21.5m).

Spain's least expensive player is Aymeric Laporte (£6.88m), followed by Josep Martinez, Roberto Fernandez (both £8.6m) and Ivan Fresneda (£12.9m).

Interestingly, three of England's four least expensive players are goalkeepers, while two of Spain's four are uncapped in Fernandez and Fresneda.

England vs. Spain: Transfer records

Rogers became the most expensive England player when he signed from Aston Villa to Chelsea for £118.68m this summer.

Perhaps surprising given he is a goalkeeper and the transfer happened eight years ago, but Kepa Arrizabalaga remains the most expensive Spain player, signing for Chelsea from Athletic Club for £68.8m.

Overall, Rogers is the sixth-most expensive player ever, but Kepa does not even make the top 50!
