Elche remain deeply involved in the relegation fight after suffering a narrow 2-1 defeat against Champions League-bound Real Betis in midweek.

That result extended Los Franjiverdes’ winless streak to three league matches, though the performance itself offered encouragement as they pushed one of La Liga’s strongest sides all the way.

The table remains extremely tight near the bottom, meaning a victory here could significantly ease the pressure heading into the final day.

One major positive for Elche is their recent home form, having not lost at Estadio Martinez Valero since late January, recording three wins and three draws during that stretch, which should give them confidence ahead of another high-pressure fixture.

The hosts do, however, have defensive concerns to manage, as Leo Petrot is suspended after being sent off against Betis, forcing a reshuffle at the back, while Yago Santiago remains unavailable because of a knee injury.

Getafe, meanwhile, revived their European hopes with an impressive 3-1 victory over Mallorca in midweek.

That success ended a three-match run without scoring and moved Jose Bordalas’s side back into a strong position in the race for a top-seven finish.

The Azulones are now aiming to secure their highest La Liga finish since ending fifth during the 2018-19 campaign.

Recent away form has also been encouraging, with Getafe losing only once across their last four league trips. Their defensive structure continues to make them difficult opponents, particularly in low-scoring contests.

The visitors are dealing with a few injury concerns, though. Luis Vazquez and Kiko are both doubtful because of muscle problems, while Juanmi is ruled out with a knee injury.

Whispers predicts: Elche 1-1 Getafe

Elche’s strong recent home form suggests they are capable of taking something from this contest, especially with survival still hanging in the balance. With both sides highly motivated for different reasons, a tense draw appears the most likely outcome. Priced at 2/1, a good value option.

However, Getafe’s organisation and improved attacking confidence after the Mallorca victory should make them difficult to beat. Under 2.5 goals is priced at 4/9.
