Whisper+ analysis
Authenticity (3/5): Major outlets in on rumour
Just yesterday, AC Milan were being discussed as the frontrunners to take Marcus Rashford on loan from Man Utd, however, Borussia Dortmund are now thought to be challenging the Italians.
This news broke in The Athletic, and has since been picked up Sky in Germany, as Dortmund look for a replacement for Aston Villa-bound Donyell Malen.
Value (4/5): Loan deal only real option
Before being cast aside by Ruben Amorim, Rashford was having a season which could be described as “hit and miss” at best, scoring seven times in all competitions.
United's reported asking price is £40 million, but his high wages and suggestions he has passed his peak make a loan move the only real option for Dortmund and other suitors.
Suitability (4/5): Attacking style will work well
Under Nuri Sahin, the Yellow and Blacks play a 4-2-3-1 formation or a rather unorthodox two up front with three attackers in behind.
That attacking setup can be ideal for Rashford, who can operate either on his preferred left side or on the left of a striking pair, or even as a centre-forward.
Upgrade? (3/5): Another left-sided Englishman
Right-winger Donyell Malen can fill in on the left, and though Dortmund will need to strengthen once he departs, Rashford won't necessarily walk into the team.
With nine goals and five assists, English left-winger Jamie Gittens has been one of the best performers for Dortmund this season, while Serhou Guirassy has been a consistent goal threat up front.
Logic (3.5/5): Better option than Milan
Like Milan, Dortmund offer the fresh challenge Rashford is seeking at one of the biggest clubs in one of Europe's top leagues.
Unlike Milan, Dortmund are in slightly more need of a player like Rashford, and have recent history of getting the most out of Englishmen unable to cut the mustard at Old Trafford.
Whisper+ verdict: 17.5/25
Of all the clubs linked with Rashford so far, Dortmund look to be the most logical. A loan move to Signal Iduna Park is certainly not perfect, though, so this saga might rumble on for a while yet.
