Authenticity (2.5/5): Insider makes big Dibling claim
Tottenham Hotspur are among a number of clubs keen on signing Tyler Dibling after his breakout season at Southampton. The Saints are certain to lose their talent if they are relegated from the Premier League.
That is according to Football Insider's Mick Brown, who is very “well-connected” within the game, owing to his scouting stint at Manchester United.
Value (3.5/5): Southampton not in a great position
Earlier this year, Dibling was understood to be valued at £50million. However, now it is being claimed that £25million would be enough to prise away the 19-year-old winger from Southampton if they return to the Championship.
Suitability (3.5/5): Direct attacking threat
The Englishman is known for his direct style of play, as he likes to fearlessly take on his defenders. He employs his quick feet and explosiveness to get the better of them.
Ange Postecoglou could certainly do with an attacker who likes to take charge and make a difference in difficult situations.
Upgrade? (3.5/5): Versatile forward
Dibling is a natural right-winger as such he is likely to come up against Dejan Kulusevski for the starting spot. However, the young star is also capable of playing through the middle, meaning he wouldn't struggle too much for gametime at Spurs.
Logic (4/5): Premier League stay
With last-placed Southampton destined to be relegated, unless they go on a remarkable run, Dibling would be able to decide between plying his trade in the Championship with his boyhood club or remaining in England's top-flight in Spurs colours. Needless to say, the Lillywhites will have a clear advantage.
Whisper+ verdict: 17/25
Brown is confident of Dibling's exit, but considering his record during the winter transfer window, we would like to wait for more reliable outlets to report on the Southampton sensation's future.
