Derby to win

Derby have won their last three matches in the Championship including each of their last two home games against Coventry and Blackburn.

Relegation battlers Derby County have hit form at just the right time of the season, picking up three wins on the bounce, and will be hoping that the international break doesn't upset their rhythm as they prepare for a tricky home game against Preston on Wednesday night.

Derby vs Preston prediction: Another win for the Rams?

Key Stats

  • Derby have been at their best at home this season where they have secured eight wins from their 19 matches.
  • Preston have struggled on their travels this season, losing nine of their 19 outings in the Championship.
  • Both teams have scored in just 37% of Derby's home games this season.

Correct score prediction: Derby 1-0 Preston

Preston were beaten 3-0 in the FA Cup quarter-finals by Aston Villa at the weekend and now face a trip to in-form Derby in the Championship. The Rams score an average of 1.11 goals per game at home and only concede an average of 0.79 goals, which is why we've backed a 1-0 win for Derby County on Wednesday night.

Derby preview: Found their form at just the right time

Derby County picked up a huge three points away against one of their relegation rivals Plymouth before the international break.

The visitors scored twice in the first half through Marcus Myers-Harness and the on-loan Everton midfielder Harrison Armstrong to lead 2-1 at the interval. Plymouth did manage to equalise early in the second 45 but the Rams showed their character with a winning goal in the 88th minute from Myers-Harness.

David Ozoh, Ryan Nyambe, Kemar Roofe, Nathaniel Mendez-Laing, Dajaune Brown, Ben Osborn, Lars-Jorgen Salvesen and Curtis Nelson make up the list of possible absentees for the hosts this week.

Predicted lineup: Widell Zetterström (GK), Forsyth, Clarke, Elder, Wilson, Phillips, Harness, Adams, Thompson, Armstrong & Yates

Preston preview: Exited the FA Cup in the quarter-finals

Preston managed to hold their Premier League guests to a goalless draw heading into the halftime break but Aston Villa showed their class in the second 45, scoring three times without reply to boom their place in the FA Cup semi-finals.

Preston have little left to play for this season but pride as they occupy a spot in mid-table, in very little danger of being dragged into a relegation fit and ten points off the final play-off place.

Paul Heckingbottom has no fresh injury concerns or suspended players to worry about ahead of a tricky trip to Pride Park on Wednesday night.

Predicted lineup: Cornell (GK), Hughes, Storey, Gibson, Meghoma, Brady, Whiteman, Poroarson, Frokjær-Jensen, Keane & Riis

Player to watch: Harrison Armstrong

Harrison Armstrong has started to show the Derby fans his true ability in recent weeks and he topped off his best performance of the season with a goal in a 3-2 win over Plymouth.

The 18-year-old, who is on loan from Everton, possesses an eye for a pass as well as a goal from midfield and we're expecting to see a lot more from the teenager over the coming weeks.

The on-loan Everton youngster has impressed

We're backing Harrison to put in another excellent attacking display on Wednesday night, one which could help Derby to make it four league wins on the run.
