Albeit without their talisman Lewandowski, Poland were still the big favourite to win this Euro 2024 qualifier but fell behind in the twenty-fifth minute and trailed at the interval. Swiderski equalised for the home side early in the second half but Poland failed to carve out a winner and had to settle for a point. Robert Lewandowski is back in the Poland squad and will go straight into the starting lineup on Friday but Bereszyński, Kamiński and Milik have not been called up.

Czech captain Soucek did eventually break the deadlock in the seventy-sixth minute from the penalty spot but the game still ended nervously as the hosts failed to find that second goal, though, they didn't need it in the end. Goalkeeper Pavlenka, defender Krejčí and forward Jurečka are the three names that were in the last squad that haven't been called up for the Czech Republic this time around.

Karol Świderski plays his football for MLS side Charlotte but despite not playing in one of Europe's top leagues, the Polish striker has played the role of understudy to Lewandoski really well, netting two goals in the Euro 2024 qualifiers.
The 26-year-old has a good record at international level but won't be well known to many outside of Poland as after leaving his homeland in 2019 he played in Greece until moving to the USA in 2022. Świderski has been in good form for Charlotte this season, scoring twelve times in thirty starts and heads into Friday's match having scored ten goals in twenty-six games for his country.
