Whisper+ analysis
Authenticity (2/5): Name being thrown in
With no fit centre-forwards to call upon, Bournemouth have drawn up a list of strikers to sign in January, one of whom is Everton's Dominic Calvert-Lewin.
That is the word of teamtalk.com, who say Evan Ferguson and Niclas Fullkrug are also on the list despite not naming sources, suggesting they are linking the Cherries to any goal-shy Premier League forward.
Value (4/5): DCL deal winding down
Calvert-Lewin's ninth year at Everton looks to be his last, as he is out of contract in the summer and there seems to be little sign of a new offer from the Toffees.
Despite netting just two goals this season and being well off the form that saw him win 11 England caps, the 27-year-old is still valued at £18.45 million, and the Cherries could have a lower offer accepted.
Suitability (3.5/5): Needs to find his form
It's four years and three managers since Calvert-Lewin last hit double figures in the Premier League, throwing doubt over his capability to lead the line for any club in the division, let alone a Bournemouth side that is pushing for European football.
He will argue that he is not getting the service at low-scoring Everton, and support from Antoine Semenyo, Justin Kluivert et al might be what he needs to rediscover his touch.
Upgrade? (2/5): Cherries scoring more
A broken foot for Evanilson and a cruciate ligament tear for Enes Unal have made a new striker a sudden priority this month for Andoni Iraola, who has recalled Daniel Jebbison from his loan at Watford.
Five goals for the Brazilian and two for the rarely-starting Turk mean the Englishman cannot be considered an upgrade in terms of form, but his vast Premier League experience counts for something.
Logic (1.5/5): Better names on shortlist
Bournemouth might struggle to land West Ham target Ferguson, while West Ham's own Fullkrug might be a more logical target, especially if the Irishman's arrival pushes him down the pecking order.
Calvert-Lewin probably needs a fresh start away from Goodison Park, but a change of league might be preferable to the Vitality Stadium, where his arrival won't provide much fanfare.
Whisper+ verdict: 13/25
DCL might be available for cheap, but teamtalk.com seem to just be throwing names out there in the hope that one might stick.
