🔥 Our Hot tip

Under 2.5 goals

Eight of the last 10 meetings between the two sides have produced under 2.5 goals.

Crystal Palace will aim to secure a third consecutive win across all competitions when they host Newcastle United in the Premier League at Selhurst Park on Sunday.

The Eagles currently sit 14th in the table with 39 points from 30 matches, and with a comfortable gap over the relegation zone, their focus should now be on pushing towards the top half, which remains within reach.

Newcastle, meanwhile, are two places above Palace, but Eddie Howe’s side will be eager to respond after back-to-back defeats, including a disappointing 1-0 loss to Sunderland in the Tyne-Wear derby.

Crystal Palace are yet to resume their Premier League campaign after the international break, with their scheduled fixture against Manchester City postponed due to their opponents’ EFL Cup final commitments.

The Eagles, however, will be brimming with confidence following an impressive 3-0 win over Fiorentina in the first leg of their UEFA Conference League quarter-final, with goals from Jean-Philippe Mateta, Tyrick Mitchell and Ismaila Sarr.

While lifting a European trophy would represent a historic achievement, securing another route into Europe through the league remains a key objective, which will require improvement in their home form, having won just one of their last 10 top-flight matches at Selhurst Park in the Premier League.

Inconsistency has defined much of their campaign, but a renewed sense of belief, coupled with key players finding form, could fuel a strong finish to the season.

Jorgen Strand Larsen is available again after serving a Conference League suspension, although Oliver Glasner will still be without Eddie Nketiah, Cheick Doucoure and Evann Guessand.

Newcastle United have endured a difficult campaign, and there is a growing sense that Eddie Howe has taken the current squad as far as possible, with a significant rebuild likely required in the summer.

Their form on the road has been a major concern, with only four wins and seven defeats, underlining their inconsistency away from home.

The Magpies have lost six and drawn one of their last 10 Premier League matches, although they have managed to score in each of their last nine away games, offering a slight attacking positive.

In terms of team news, Sven Botman has undergone surgery after sustaining a facial injury in the Tyne-Wear derby and is not expected to return until later this month.

He is joined on the sidelines by Emil Krafth (knee), Bruno Guimaraes (thigh/illness) and Fabian Schar (foot infection), leaving Newcastle short of options heading into this fixture.

Whispers Predicts: Crystal Palace 1-1 Newcastle United

With the return leg on the horizon, Crystal Palace may struggle to replicate the same intensity they showed against Fiorentina, while Newcastle United will be determined to avoid a third consecutive defeat, making a draw at 3.4 a likely outcome.

Both sides have been finding the net regularly in recent matches, so backing a draw with BTTS - Yes at 4.6 appears to be a tempting option.

Newcastle have also scored first in five of their last six matches, and they are backed to repeat that trend again at odds of 1.91.

> Match result: Draw at 3.4 | Likelihood: Probable

> Draw and BTTS - Yes at 4.6 | Likelihood: Probable
