Coventry vs Burnley: Our top betting tips

Coventry remain rooted to the foot of the Championship table but a win here could see them move up a spot or two. Can they get that much needed win though? Find out with our Coventry vs Burnley match preview with free tips, predictions and odds mentioned along the way.

Backing a draw

Coventry and Burnley might sit at different ends of the table with the hosts currently bottom and the Clarets up in fifth but we don't see Burnley winning the match; instead we are backing a draw. Coventry, whose position is perhaps slightly false due to the fact they've played fewer games than the other sides in the league, have seen three of their last four games end in draws. Burnley meanwhile are unbeaten in 10 games but have only won four with their last two – and four of their last five – ending level. Combine the form of both sides together with the fact that three of the last five head to heads have ended in draws the odds on offer here take on real value.

Going under 2.5 goals

Our next prediction for this match sees us backing the game to come in under 2.5 goals. Coventry have seen each of their last three games go south that 2.5 mark with just one goal seen in that period. Burnley meanwhile have seen four of their last five go under 2.5 goals with a total of 11 goals seen in that period, which gives them a game average of just 2.2 per match. To cap this prediction off you can look at the head to head record, which shows three of the last five games have gone under 2.5 goals with a game average of 2.4 goals.

Can Coventry move off bottom spot?

Coventry and Burnley both have big targets for this season with one looking to stay up and the other aiming to go up and whilst neither have been in bad form over recent games wins have been few and far between for both. Chalking up three points would do wonders for either side right now; Coventry would likely move off the bottom whilst Burnley would apply pressure to the automatic promotion spots.

Coventry arrive here in a reasonable spell of form – considering their position in the table – but they'll be without the suspended Gustavo Hamer for this game. In better news, midfield duo Liam Kelly and Callum O'Hare, who have both been injured, could be back in contention for a place in the squad.

Coventry Predicted lineup – Wilson, Panzo, McFazdean, Doyle, Bidwell, Allen, Palmer, Sheaf, Dabo, Godden, Gyokeres

Burnley have struggled to turn draws into wins this season and it could prove detrimental to their ambitions of promotion if it continues. The return of Scott Twine and Darko Churlinov might help on that front but they're unlikely to be back in time for this game.

Burnley Predicted lineup – Muric, Roberts, Harwood-Bellis, Beyer, Vitinho, Cullen, Cork, Benson, Tella, Brownhill, Rodriguez
