🔥 Our Hot tip

BTTS - Yes & under 4.5 goals

Three of Tottenham’s last four matches have produced goals at both ends, with none of those encounters featuring more than 4.5 goals.

A decade on from the infamous “Battle of the Bridge”, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur renew hostilities in another high-stakes London derby at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday evening.

The Blues effectively ended Spurs’ Premier League title hopes in May 2016 after a fiery 2-2 draw confirmed Leicester City as champions, and they could once again influence Spurs’ fate here.

Tottenham arrive locked in a tense relegation battle, with the Lilywhites sitting 17th in the table and only two points above 18th-placed West Ham United.

Meanwhile, Chelsea’s hopes of European qualification now rest entirely on their league position following Saturday’s FA Cup final defeat to Manchester City, leaving the Blues ninth and two points adrift of the continental spots heading into another significant chapter of this rivalry.

Chelsea come into this contest after suffering a narrow 1-0 defeat to Man City in Saturday’s FA Cup final at Wembley Stadium, where Antoine Semenyo’s second-half strike proved decisive.

That disappointment continued a miserable run for the Blues, who have managed only two victories across their last 12 matches in all competitions, with both successes arriving in the FA Cup.

The West London club have endured a dramatic decline in recent months, crashing out of the Champions League while slipping further away from the European qualification places in the Premier League standings.

However, Chelsea did at least halt their losing streak in the league with a 1-1 draw against Liverpool at Anfield last weekend, producing a more disciplined display despite their attacking struggles.

Goals have become increasingly difficult to find for Calum McFarlane’s side, with the Blues regularly lacking cutting edge in the final third ahead of what is expected to be the interim manager’s final home match in charge.

Chelsea have already confirmed the appointment of former Bayer Leverkusen and Real Madrid boss Xabi Alonso on a four-year contract ahead of next season.

Meanwhile, Tottenham appear to have benefited from the arrival of Roberto De Zerbi, with the visitors unbeaten in four of their five matches under the Italian coach since his appointment on March 31.

Even so, Spurs missed a huge opportunity to create breathing space in the relegation battle after settling for a 1-1 draw against Leeds United despite taking the lead through Mathys Tel.

The young forward opened the scoring with an impressive finish before later conceding the penalty that allowed Leeds to rescue a point, leaving Tottenham frustrated after West Ham’s defeat to Arsenal earlier in the weekend.

Although Spurs have shown improvement away from home recently, their record against Chelsea remains poor, with the visitors winless in their last nine competitive meetings with the Blues (D2, L7), including a 1-0 defeat in the reverse fixture earlier this season.

Whispers predicts: Chelsea 1-1 Tottenham

Chelsea’s inability to convert performances into victories, combined with Tottenham’s poor historical record at the Bridge, points towards a tense and closely contested encounter.

The stakes attached to this fixture could also encourage a cautious approach, particularly from Spurs, who know avoiding defeat would keep survival firmly in their own hands heading into the final day.

A draw at 3.70 therefore stands out as an appealing selection, especially with neither side arriving in convincing form.

There is also strong value in the goals market, considering both teams have recently shown vulnerability at the back while still carrying enough attacking threat to contribute offensively, making BTTS – Yes at 1.53 an attractive option.

However, a high-scoring contest still feels unlikely, so combining BTTS – Yes with under 4.5 goals at 2.15 offers greater appeal while also supporting the 1-1 correct score prediction at 8.00.

The bookings market also deserves serious attention given the intensity usually associated with this rivalry and the significance of the result for both clubs.

That angle becomes even stronger when considering the disciplinary records of both sides this season; Chelsea have picked up 84 yellow cards in the league campaign, ranking only behind Tottenham, making over 5.5 bookings at 1.83 a particularly appealing wager.
