Chelsea transfer news: Blues prepared to gamble on ex-Barcelona flop?

In recent years, several players who have been through FC Barcelona have not managed to establish themselves in Catalonia. A former flop is shining elsewhere and greatly appeals to English clubs, including Chelsea.

Despite an overflowing squad on paper, Chelsea have numerous gaps, notably because of several injuries, in all sectors of play. The Blues will certainly be active during the next transfer window. Besides Enzo Maresca's needs, the English club are pursuing their policy of recruiting young players with high potential, as was the case with Estevao.

Chelsea could moreover attempt to recruit a new Brazilian gem, but not just any one. After a failure at Barcelona, Vitor Roque returned to Brazil. At Palmeiras, the striker has regained a good level. According to information from Goal Brasil, Chelsea are monitoring the 20-year-old player's performances with great attention.

A second chance for Vitor Roque at Chelsea?

Upon his arrival in Catalonia, Vitor Roque was presented as one of the most talented players of the 2005 generation. Ultimately, his spell at Barcelona was a genuine flop. After a mixed season at Real Betis, Vitor Roque returned home. English clubs continue to always monitor him, Chelsea obviously but also Tottenham.

However, if Vitor Roque has regained appetite for football, this does not necessarily mean he has the level to play for one of the best European clubs. The striker had cost Barcelona €30m (£25.6m) and even after his failure, he retains a good standing on the transfer market (£17.1m). Moreover, Palmeiras have invested heavily in Vitor Roque (£21.5m) and will not let him leave, unless there is an enormous offer. Not certain that Chelsea will attempt a gamble as crazy as Barcelona's at the time.
