Enzo Maresca's first season in West London ended with Chelsea securing a return to the Champions League and winning the Europa Conference League trophy. The Blues finished in the Premier League's top four after a hard-fought final-day 1-0 victory over Nottingham Forest, securing their place in Europe's premier club football competition.

They followed this with a 4-1 Europa Conference League victory against Real Betis, becoming the first club to win all available European trophies, and also impressively won the FIFA Club World Cup, beating heavy favourites Paris Saint-Germain 3-0 in the final. It was another busy summer for the Blues, in terms of both ins and outs, but with the somewhat shock departure of Maresca midway through the season, Chelsea also had the January window to deal with under new head coach Liam Rosenior.
