🔥 Our Hot tip

First-half draw

The last three head-to-head meetings between Charlotte and Inter Miami have all been level at the break.

Inter Miami make the journey to Bank of America Stadium this weekend to face Charlotte FC in matchday 30 of Major League Soccer, looking to recover from their heavy League Cup final defeat.

That setback against Seattle Sounders denied Lionel Messi and his teammates a chance at silverware, meaning the focus now shifts entirely to league matters. Despite trailing leaders Philadelphia Union by 11 points, the Herons remain within touching distance of the Supporters Shield thanks to having four games in hand.

However, for Javier Mascherano’s side to stay alive in the league title race, an almost flawless sequence of results is now required. The challenge could not be tougher as they prepare to face a Crown team currently in irresistible form.

Charlotte vs Inter Miami prediction: Visitors cannot afford to slip

Key stats:

  • Miami have both scored and conceded in seven of their last eight games across all competitions.
  • The Herons are unbeaten in their most recent meetings with Charlotte.
  • Their last MLS outing ended in a 1-1 draw against DC United.
  • Two of the last five contests between the teams have finished level with goals at both ends.

Correct score prediction – Charlotte 1-1 Inter Miami

Everything points to a tense battle. Charlotte have built their recent success on defensive resilience, recording four clean sheets in their last five fixtures, although they did concede in their most recent victory.

Inter Miami, meanwhile, have found the net in seven of their past eight matches, making them difficult to shut out completely. With the visitors desperate for points but struggling to display consistent dominance, a draw with both sides on the scoresheet feels the most likely outcome.

Our highlighted tip, a first-half draw, is offered at 11/8 (2.38), with a 42.0% likelihood. Considering the pattern of the past three head-to-head encounters, this represents solid value.

Charlotte FC preview: Three out with injuries

Dean Smith’s men are flying, having secured five consecutive victories across all competitions. Their latest triumph came with a 2-1 away win over New England Revolution, lifting them to third place in the Eastern Conference on 50 points. The Crown are seven points adrift of Philadelphia in the overall standings, so victory here would improve hopes of clinching the Supporters Shield.

The squad is not at full strength, however, with Pep Biel sidelined by a knee problem, Harry Toffolo missing with a muscle strain and goalkeeper Drake Callender absent due to a groin injury.

Predicted XI: Kahlina (GK), Byrne, Ream, Malanda, Marshall-Rutty, Westwood, Diani, Bronico, Zaha, Toklomati & Calderon

  • 31/08/25: New England Revolution 1-2 Charlotte (W)
  • 25/08/25: Charlotte 1-0 New York Red Bulls (W)
  • 17/08/25: Charlotte 1-0 Real Salt Lake (W)
  • 10/08/25: FC Cincinnati 0-1 Charlotte (W)
  • 08/08/25: Monterrey 0-2 Charlotte (W)

Inter Miami preview: Suarez begins suspension

Miami enter this encounter after a humiliating 3-0 defeat to Seattle in the League Cup Finals, with the result putting an end to their four-match unbeaten streak. The Herons will be without veteran attacker Luis Suarez, who is suspended for three games by the MLS for spitting at a Sounders’s official.

As a result, Miami might hav to make do with Tadeo Allende, who is expected to lead the line despite having failed to score in each of his last six outings.

Meanwhile, Mateo Silvetti remains out with a foot injury and is yet to feature for the club since his move from Newell’s Old Boys, while Fafa Picault is also out of contention for the away side after picking up an injury while on international duty with Haiti.

Predicted XI: Ustari (GK), Alba, Lujan, Falcon, Fray, De Paul, Busquets, Bright, Cremaschi, Messi & Allende

  • 31/08/25: New England Revolution 1-2 Charlotte (W)
  • 25/08/25: Charlotte 1-0 New York Red Bulls (W)
  • 17/08/25: Charlotte 1-0 Real Salt Lake (W)
  • 10/08/25: FC Cincinnati 0-1 Charlotte (W)
  • 08/08/25: Monterrey 0-2 Charlotte (W)

Player to watch: Lionel Messi

In a contest of this magnitude, all eyes will inevitably turn to Lionel Messi. With Suarez absent, the Argentine maestro shoulders even greater responsibility for Miami’s hopes.

The eight-time Ballon d’Or winner has already struck 19 times in MLS this season, leaving him only one behind Nashville’s Sam Surridge in the Golden Boot race. Beyond personal accolades, Messi will be focused on leading his side back to winning ways and keeping their fading title hopes alive.
