Hot Tip – Both Teams to Score

  • Both teams have scored in four of Cercle Brugge's last six matches in all competitions.
  • Three of Standard Leige's last four outings have produced goals at both ends of the pitch.

Another reason that we have backed BTTS as our main prediction is that both teams have only kept one clean sheet in their last six attempts.

Cercle Brugge vs Standard Liege team news

Cercle

Cercle Brugge made the trip to Genk last weekend for what turned out to be a very tight and tense ninety minutes. Kevin Denkey scored his sixteenth league goal of the campaign to hand Cerlce the lead after just eight minutes but Genk scored a deserved equaliser shortly after the hour mark and the game ended in a draw.

Hugo Siquet, Christiaan Ravych and Abu Francis are the three main injury concerns for the hosts.

Predicted Lineup: Warleson (GK), Popović, Daland, Van der Bruggen, Lopes, Utkus, Minda, Lemaréchal, Denkey, Somers & Nazinho

Standard

Standard slipped to a disappointing defeat at home to the division's bottom club in their last league game. Kortrijk scored the game's only goal right on the stroke of halftime and Standard Liege simply couldn't come up with a response in the second forty-five and lost a game they really should have won on paper.

Aiden O'Neill is away on international duty, while Ibe Hautekiet, Laurent Henkinet, Nathan Ngoy and Steven Alzate could all miss the trip to Brugge due to injury.

Predicted Lineup: Bodart (GK), Laifis, Vanheusden, Fossey, Noubi, Djenepo, Balikwisha, Price, Kanga, Sowah & Sahabo

Player to Watch: Kevin Denkey

Cercle Brugge's star striker is having the season of a lifetime with sixteen league goals scored so far this season.

Thankfully for Cercle, Togo didn't qualify for AFCON 2023 because if they did, Denkey would have been called up and could have been missing for a month's worth of fixtures.

Only two of Denkey's league goals this season have come via penalties and if he continues in this vein of form, he should score twenty-plus goals in all competitions.
