Celtic and Rangers renew their Old Firm rivalry as the hosts sit five points above the visitors in second place.

Despite their perfect domestic record, Celtic have endured a turbulent opening to the 2026-27 campaign.

Martin O'Neill's side suffered a major disappointment in their Champions League qualifying campaign, losing the second leg 5-1 to LASK Linz and going out 5-4 on aggregate.

The Bhoys appeared to recover from that setback by putting together four consecutive Scottish Premiership victories.

Their momentum has since disappeared, though, with Celtic heading into Sunday's derby having suffered defeats in their last two matches.

First came a 3-0 loss to Rangers in the Scottish League Cup quarter-final before another defensive collapse contributed to a 3-1 defeat against Ferencvaros in their opening Europa League league-phase fixture.

Rangers' campaign, meanwhile, has been impressive since their elimination from the UEFA Europa Conference League by Jablonec.

Derek McInnes has seen his side rack up five straight wins in a row across all competitions, four in the league and one in the League Cup.

The latest was an emphatic 3-0 victory over Celtic, and McInnes will want his players to reproduce that performance in their league clash.

With Celtic looking to respond to consecutive defeats and Rangers attempting to extend their remarkable recent run, Sunday's derby carries plenty of significance.

Whispers predicts: Celtic 2-1 Rangers

Celtic enter the game hoping to get back on their feet, but facing a Rangers side that recently defeated them will be a big task.

Despite losing their last two games, we predict a hard-fought 2-1 victory for the home side.

History at the venue provides Celtic with some encouragement, as Rangers have won only two of their last 15 visits.

The visitors will also have to cope without their travelling support, with away fans banned from Old Firm fixtures for the entirety of this season.

For this game, the bookmakers have given Celtic 23/20 (2.15) odds to secure a home victory.

A draw is valued at 27/10 (3.70), while an away win for Rangers is offered at 2/1 (3.00).

Given the historical meetings between these two Scottish giants regularly produce goals, over 2.5 goals is priced at 8/15 (1.53)

Both teams to score (Yes) is available at 4/9 (1.44), and a combined both teams to score and over 2.5 goals is quoted at 8/11 (1.72).

Also, Camilo Duran, anytime goalscorer, is at 7/5 (2.40), and the home team double chance is at 4/11 (1.36).
