Celtic cruised to an impressive 7-1 victory over Heart of Midlothian in the Scottish Premiership over the weekend.

The past few weeks have not been particularly pleasant for the Bhoys, as they have slumped to four losses in six matches after previously stringing together four wins in a row.

A tough start to the Europa League has seen Martin O’Neill’s men suffer a 3-1 home defeat to Ferencváros and a 4-1 thrashing away at Benfica, leaving them 33rd in the 36-team standings and desperate for points.

The Scottish champions remain without a couple of key players, with Yang Hyun-Jun (hamstring) and Cameron Carter-Vickers (strain) still ruled out through injury. Camilo Duran is on a three-game scoring streak and is expected to lead the charge for the hosts once again, with support from Benjamin Nygren (six league goals), Haissem Hassan, and Sebastian Tounekti.

On the other hand, Celta Vigo returned to winning ways with a hard-fought 2-1 home victory against Deportivo Alaves over the weekend.

Not only are Claudio Giraldez's troops without an away win this season, but they have also struggled in front of goal, having managed only one goal in five matches on the road.

Like their opponents, Celta Vigo have lost both of their Europa League fixtures, although both defeats have been by one-goal margins.

Several players are unavailable for the visitors. Former Celtic defender Carl Starfelt will miss a return to Parkhead due to a thigh injury; Borja Iglesias (calf), Miguel Roman (knee), Alvaro Nunez (thigh), Jones El-Abdellaoui (knee), and Pablo Duran (thigh) are also unavailable for selection.

Fan favourite and veteran forward Iago Aspas has been working his way back from a thigh problem and has seen his minutes carefully managed by coach Giraldez from the bench. This leaves Ferran Jutgla as the primary option to lead the line, with support from Williot Swedberg and Hugo Alvarez in the final third.

This will be the third clash between these outfits. Celtic and Celta Vigo previously met twice in this competition (then the UEFA Cup) during the 2002/03 season, with both teams winning their respective home games by one-goal margins.

Whispers Predicts: Celtic 1-0 Celta Vigo

Priced at 33/20 (2.65), Celta Vigo are slightly favoured by the bookmakers ahead of this skirmish.

However, the visiting team's results on the road do not inspire much confidence, and so we are leaning toward Celtic for the win at 7/4 (2.75).

Fewer than two goals were scored in four of the visiting team's last five away matches, and this can be backed at 16/5 (4.20).

We also fancy under 0.5 Celta Vigo goals at 11/4 (3.75). This landed in four of the visiting team's five away outings this season.

📈 Celtic vs Celta Vigo — Whispers' Tips
