Celta Vigo kicked off their UEFA Europa League campaign with a disappointing 1-0 defeat against Omonia Nicosia. They have now failed to win eight consecutive matches across all competitions.
It is worth mentioning that despite their lack of wins, the Galician side have lost only twice in La Liga this season, with four of their six league fixtures ending in stalemates.
Interestingly, Claudio Giraldez's men have scored three goals in seven matches across all competitions this season, and Hugo Gonzalez set up the last two. The 23-year-old is expected to return to the starting XI this weekend after coming off the bench in the defeat to Omonia Nicosia.
Captain and veteran forward Iago Aspas is sidelined with a thigh injury and is expected back in early October. Young midfielder Andres Antanon is also ruled out due to an ankle injury, while forward Jones El-Abdellaoui's status is questionable.
On the other hand, Racing Santander's 7-2 loss against Barcelona on Wednesday was one of their heaviest defeats of all time, as they conceded seven times in a game for the first time since the 1961-62 season (also vs Barcelona).
While Jose Alberto Lopez's troops are unbeaten at home this season, they have lost all their away games so far. With seven points earned from a possible 18, the visitors are 10th in La Liga ahead of their clash with 17th-placed Celta.
Following heavy rotation against Barcelona, Racing expect key figures Yassir Zabiri, Inigo Vicente, and Pablo García back in the starting XI against Celta, with Andre Almeida returning from suspension.
Andres Martin (knee), Pedro Felipe (muscle), and Simon Eriksson (shoulder) are all ruled out for the visiting team.
This will be the first league encounter between these teams since February 2007, but their most recent clash came in January last year, when Celta eliminated Racing Club from the Copa del Rey.

Whispers Predicts: Celta Vigo 1-1 Racing Santander
Priced at 9/10 (1.90), Celta Vigo are considered favourites by the bookmakers ahead of this clash.
The hosts' last three league outings ended in stalemates, and the spoils were shared in five of their last eight matches across all competitions, so we believe that these teams will be on level terms at the end of this encounter.
Celta's last five games have all gone south of the 2.5-goal marker, and this is currently valued at 13/10 (2.30).
We also fancy a 1-1 correct score at 31/5 (7.20), as was the case in the hosts' last two La Liga fixtures.
> Under 2.5 total goals at 13/10 (2.30) | Likelihood: Probable
> BTTS – Yes at 13/20 (1.65) | Likelihood: Probable
> Match result: Draw at 3/1 (4.00) | Likelihood: Possible
> Draw & BTTS – Yes at 18/5 (4.60) | Likelihood: Possible
> Correct Score: 1-1 at (31/5) 7.20 | Likelihood: Outsider
