It's been a dismal couple of weeks for Celta Vigo, and their season is now on the verge of a full-on implosion.
Six defeats from their last seven outings have seen them dumped out of the Europa League at the hands of Freiburg, and lose control of the race for Europe in La Liga.
At the beginning of last month, Vigo were sitting nicely in fifth position in the league table and were thinking about Champions League nights at the Estadio de Balaído. Now, there is a good chance they won't even qualify for the Europa Conference League.
Claudio Giraldez has done a brilliant job since becoming the manager in 2024, and supporters certainly still have faith that he is the man to put an end to their current poor form at such a critical stage of the season.
For the Elche clash, Giraldez will be without Miguel Roman, Carl Starfelt, and Matias Vecino due to injuries, and Marcos Alonso due to suspension.
As for the visitors, their recent form has been at the complete opposite end of the spectrum.
A run of four wins from their last five league matches has seen them move out of the bottom three and up to 14th in the league table. As things stand, they are four points clear of Sevilla in 18th, but they won't consider themselves safe just yet.
As one of the most prominent yo-yo clubs in Spain, the Elche fanbase will be all too aware of how quickly things can change at this end of the table, but one more win should keep them in the top flight for another season.
For the trip to Vigo, Elche boss Eder Sarabia will be unable to call upon the services of Yago Santiago and Adam El Mohhtari due to injury, while German Valera is suspended after being red-carded last weekend.
