Casa Pia preview: Eyeing their biggest win since January

Casa Pia had a good preseason, taking part in five preparatory games and losing none. They finished ninth last campaign and will look to improve on that this term.

However, the hosts will be without forwards Claudio Mendes and Kiki Silva for this opening match, as both players have not recovered from injuries sustained last season.

Although age is no longer on his side, last season's top scorer Cassiano could again prove decisive in the forward ranks for Casa Pia this campaign. The 36-year-old scored 10 goals and contributed two assists last term for the Rio Maior outfit.

First-choice goalkeeper Patrick Sequeira is expected to start in goal. The Costa Rican shot-stopper kept seven clean sheets in 32 league games last season.

Predicted lineup: Sequeira (GK), Tchamba, Fonte, Goulart, Benaissa-Yahia, Brito, Mohamed, Geraldes, Livolant, Cassiano & Larrazabal.

Sporting Lisbon preview: Looking to rebound from Super Cup defeat

Sporting CP lost the Portuguese Super Cup last Thursday to Benfica as they began to adjust to life without Viktor Gyokeres. The reigning league champions will aim to start the league season on fire, as coach Rui Borges expects all hands on deck for this trip.

On the injury front, central midfielders Daniel Braganca and Joao Simoes have cruciate ligament and metatarsal fracture injuries, respectively, ruling them out of this opening match.

Summer signing Luis Javier Suarez made his competitive debut for Sporting in the Super Cup defeat to Benfica and will look forward to making his league debut this weekend. The 27-year-old scored 27 goals for Almeria last term in the Spanish Segunda.

Predicted lineup: Silva (GK), Fresneda, Diomande, Inacio, Araujo, Hjulmand, Morita, Catamo, Trincao, Goncalves & Harder.
