🔥 Our Hot tip

Cremonese to concede first

Cremonese have conceded the opening goal in five of their last six matches.

Two sides in abysmal form and hovering dangerously close to the relegation zone go head-to-head on Saturday as Cagliari take on Cremonese at the Unipol Domus in Serie A.

Cagliari currently sit 16th in the table with 30 points from 31 matches, just three points clear of the drop zone, and come into this fixture in poor form after losing four consecutive games.

Cremonese are just behind them in 17th place with 27 points from 31 matches, sitting above Lecce only on goal difference, which underlines how finely balanced the relegation battle has become.

After a three-game winning run between mid-to-late January, many believed Cagliari under Fabio Pisacane had done enough to steer clear of the relegation battle, but their form has since taken a sharp downturn.

The Islanders are now winless since February, suffering six defeats in their last eight matches, and they find themselves in serious danger of slipping into the bottom three unless they can halt this alarming decline.

🔍 Whispers Insight

Cagliari are without a win in their last eight matches.

Their struggles have also been evident at the Unipol Domus, where they are without a win in their last four home games, and they come into this fixture on the back of a 2-1 defeat to Sassuolo.

There is, however, some encouragement in the head-to-head record, as Cagliari are unbeaten in their last three meetings with Cremonese, including a 2-2 draw in the reverse fixture earlier this year.

In terms of team news, Mattia Felici and Riyad Idrissi are sidelined with knee injuries, while Leonardo Pavoletti remains a doubt for the match.

Cremonese appointed former Cagliari boss Marco Giampaolo last month in a bid to steer them clear of relegation, but the task looks increasingly difficult given their current situation.

🔍 Whispers Insight

Cremonese have failed to keep a clean sheet against Cagliari in their last five matches.

The Lombardy outfit did register their first win under the new manager with a 2-0 victory over Parma, yet that result has done little to mask their struggles, as they have gone on to lose eight of their last 10 matches.

Defensive issues continue to undermine their campaign, with Cremonese conceding 46 goals so far, while also losing nine times away from home, although they have still managed to pick up more wins on the road (four) than at their own ground (two).

In terms of team news, Youssef Maleh is suspended following his red card against Bologna, while Antonio Sanabria, Faris Moumnagna and Jamie Vardy are all expected to miss out.

Whispers Predicts: Cagliari 1-1 Cremonese

With both sides struggling for form, it is difficult to confidently back either of them to come out on top.

With survival at stake, neither side will want to take too many risks, which makes a low-scoring draw at 3.2 a plausible outcome.

Both teams have scored in four of Cagliari’s last five matches, making BTTS - Yes at 2.0 an appealing betting option.
