🔥 Our Hot tip

West Ham to score first

Burnley conceded five home goals before the 15th minute, the most in the league, while West Ham enjoy the record of a league-high 15 goals scored inside 15 minutes.

Two of the Premier League’s bottom three lock horns this weekend, which will have huge ramifications for the relegation battle, as the season heads into the final 14 games.

Burnley are already looking as if they have a foot back in the Championship and are closing in on their top-flight club record of 17 winless games that they set back in 1889-90.

West Ham United have seen some improvements lately, but they are six points away from safety, highlighting the need for a positive result against fellow relegation candidates.

Burnley vs West Ham prediction: Hammering down the opposition

Key stats

  • Burnley are winless in 15 league games, losing 10 of those.
  • West Ham were on a three-game winning streak before losing to Chelsea last weekend.
  • Five of Burnley’s last six home games and West Ham’s league fixture at any venue saw both teams score.
  • Of their 10 away points collected this term, West Ham bagged nine of them against teams that are outside the Premier League’s current top nine.

Correct score prediction: Burnley 2-3 West Ham

Both defences are extremely leaky, as no team has conceded more Premier League goals than West Ham this season, with 48 in 24 games. However, there is not much better from the home side, as they shipped 47 goals in that run. The Hammers failed to keep a clean sheet in any of their last 21 league outings, which will concern manager Nuno Espirito Santo. However, his team showed last week that they are capable of hurting any defence.

Pre-game odds and win probability: Going with the visitors

  • HOME: 23/10 (3.30) – 30.3%
  • DRAW: 12/5 (3.40) – 29.4%
  • AWAY: 23/20 (2.15) – 46.5%

*odds from Ladbrokes, subject to change

West Ham have been given a better chance of winning this fixture at 46.5%, while the hosts have only managed a 30.3% chance of winning this game. A stalemate is the least likely result, according to Ladbrokes, at 29.4%. It is understandable why the visitors are more likely to get the three points this weekend.

  • Sunderland 3-0 Burnley
  • Burnley 2-2 Tottenham

Towards the latter stages of West Ham’s 3-2 defeat to Chelsea, a scuffle broke out, and Jean-Clair Todibo received his marching orders for his role in it. As a result, Todibo will be absent from the trip to Turf Moor. Other than that, Espirito Santo has his complete squad at his disposal.

Predicted lineup: Areola; Wan-Bissaka, Mavropanos, Kilman, Diouf; Soucek, Fernandes; Bowen, Pablo, Summerville; Castellanos

Player to watch: Jarrod Bowen

The captain was on target after just seven minutes last week, when Robert Sanchez could not reach his cross-come-shot, and it ended up in the back of the net.

Bowen has already netted eight league goals this term, accounting for 28% of West Ham’s total goals in the Premier League.

The English forward has now scored in back-to-back games, making him our player to watch in this fixture.
