After relegation from the Premier League, Burnley would have hoped for a much better start than they have made to life in the Championship.
Indeed, the Clarets have picked up just one point and sit in the relegation zone, having also been knocked out of the Carabao Cup by lower-league Bradford City.
New manager Nicky Hayen is already under pressure, and tensions boiled over at Norwich with goalscorer Josh Laurent sent off.
Josh Cullen and Lyle Foster remain sidelined with injury too, so the squad could be stronger heading into Wednesday's match.
Jeremy Sarmiento will also be missing for Middlesbrough after coming off injured against West Brom.
Kim Hellberg's squad is full of quality though, and they will still be able to field a strong XI at Turf Moor.
After losing 2-1 at Blackburn Rovers, Boro have won their last two games in all competitions, and in fact that match is the only one this season they have not emerged victorious from.
After missing out on promotion through the play-offs last term, the visitors are aiming for a return to the Premier League once again.

Whispers predicts: Burnley 1-2 Middlesbrough
Middlesbrough are slight favourites with bookies, and given their superior form to Burnley, we are backing Middlesbrough to win at 8/5 (2.60).
BTTS – Yes at 13/20 (1.65) is perhaps a safer pick, having come through in Middlesbrough's last four games in all competitions.
New signing Will Lankshear has hit the ground running with six goals in five appearances so far this season, so Lankshear to score anytime at 21/10 (3.10) is our final punt.
Overall, we are predicting a 2-1 Middlesbrough victory, which is available at 9/1 (10.00).
