Brighton - Marseille

UEFA Europa League - American Express Community Stadium

6th Round

Brighton know they must beat Marseille at the AMEX stadium in Thursday, 14 December's Europa League clash, if they wish to finish top of group B, which would be a fantastic achievement given it's their first ever season playing European football.

Our Brighton vs Marseille prediction will reveal if this is likely to happen or not.

Brighton vs Marseille prediction – Betting tips and odds

Hot tip – Over 2.5 goals

  • Only four of Brighton's 11 home games have produced under 2.5 goals.
  • The reverse fixture saw four goals as it ended 2-2.

Brighton have been the leakiest defence in the Premier League this season, keeping zero clean sheets, and with the Seagulls knowing they must win, there are sure to be gaps in their defence for Marseille to exploit.

Brighton vs Marseille team news

Brighton

Brighton have done very well to have already qualified for the knockout stages in their first-ever adventure into European football, but finishing top of it could prove to be too difficult, especially with the likes of Pervis Estupinan, Ansu Fati and Solly March.

Predicted Lineup: Verbruggen – Hinshelwood, Igor, Dunk, Gross – Gilmour, Dahoud – Pedro, Buonanotte, Adingra – Ferguson

Marseille

Marseille are in a very good position, knowing that a draw will be good enough to confirm the top spot. With only Joaquin Correa and Valentin Rongier absent, they will regard themselves as heavy favourites.

Player to watch – Simon Adingra

Having initially joined Brighton back in 2022, this season has been a breakout one for Adingra with eight goal involvements to his name, and he's been terrorising defences across all competitions this campaign.

In the Europa League, Adingra has not always been fully trusted by Roberto De Zerbi, but due to injuries, he now has the chance to stake his claim for a regular starting spot.

He's already got one goal and two assists in Europe this term after just three starts, so he is still an unknown quantity, but one which could be crucial for Brighton if they wish to pick up a historic three points.
