Although Brighton come into the match nine points adrift of the traditional Champions League places, there is still a chance that the Seagulls could dine at European football's top table next season if they can find a win on Sunday afternoon.
Following Aston Villa's Europa League triumph on Wednesday, an extra sixth Champions League spot could become available for the Premier League if the Villains drop down to fifth in the Premier League table. If that does happen on Sunday, then Brighton can finish in that potentially coveted sixth position by beating Man Utd and Bournemouth losing to Nottingham Forest.
While a lot of dominoes must fall for Brighton to end up in the Champions League, their route to the Europa League is far simpler. Just simply winning the match on Sunday would put the Seagulls into Europe's second tier, while a defeat could see them drop out of the top eight and miss out on Europe altogether.
Fabian Hurzeler has done a terrific job putting his side in this position, particularly as they were flirting with the relegation battle at the season's halfway point. Last weekend's defeat to Leeds will sting, but the time to feel sorry for themselves is now over, and all the focus must go into beating a Man Utd team with nothing of note to play for.
Hurzeler will be without Stefanos Tzimas, Kaoru Mitoma and Adam Webster through injury on Sunday, while Mats Wieffer is a doubt.
As for Man Utd, their job is now done with a third-placed finish guaranteed. While the club will always aim for higher than this, it's a position they cannot be unhappy with when you consider they finished 15th in 2024/25.
Michael Carrick has been officially announced as the Red Devils' new permanent manager this week, and he will be keen to avoid a defeat in the first match without the interim tag before a busy summer gets underway at Old Trafford.
All eyes will be on Bruno Fernandes once again this weekend as he looks to become the new outright record holder for Premier League assists in a single season. The Portuguese midfielder tied with Kevin De Bruyne and Thierry Henry on 20 last weekend, but he will be desperate to go one better.
Carrick is expected to shuffle the pack, with some youngsters in with a chance of making an appearance. Matthijs de Ligt remains unavailable, while Benjamin Sesko is a major doubt. Casemiro played his final game for the club last weekend.
