🔥 Our Hot tip

Brentford or draw

Man Utd have failed to win a single away match so far this season.

Brentford will take on Man Utd in the Premier League on Saturday, 27 September in a match of huge consequence for both clubs.

A win for Man Utd would give them consecutive PL victories for the first time under Ruben Amorim, and would see them move inside the top five, at least on a temporary basis.

For Brentford, the match is a chance to get back on track after a disappointing performance against Fulham last weekend.

Brentford vs Man Utd prediction: The hosts to avoid defeat

Key Stats

  • Man Utd haven't won back-to-back Premier League matches since May 2024.
  • Brentford are yet to lose at home in all competitions this season.
  • More than two goals have been scored in four of Brentford's five league matches this season.

Correct score prediction: Brentford 2-2 Man Utd

Brentford are a completely different team at home, while Man Utd are still a nervous outfit, particularly away from Old Trafford. The Red Devils have key players returning from injury; otherwise, I'd lean towards a home win.

Pre-game odds and win probability: The visitors are the favourites

  • HOME: 9/4 (3.25) – 30.8%
  • DRAW: 13/5 (3.60) – 27.8%
  • AWAY: 21/20 (2.05) – 48.8%

*odds from Ladbrokes, subject to change

The Brentford vs Man Utd odds indicate that the Red Devils are the likelier winners on Saturday, something we aren't convinced by. Ladbrokes have given Brentford a 30.8% chance of winning the match, while Man Utd have been given a 48.8% chance of securing the three points.

Most recent H2Hs: Advantage Man Utd

Man Utd's status as pre-match favourites is likely driven by their impressive recent recorda against Brentford. The Red Devils have won three of their last five matches against the Bees and have lost just one of the last five. Last year's result at the Gtech is also slightly skewed as United had already thrown all of their eggs in the Europa League basket when the two played each other.

Man Utd preview: Cunha to return

Matheus Cunha should be back in the Man Utd starting XI this weekend, which is a huge boost to Ruben Amorim. Mason Mount could also be fit enough for a place in the starting XI, but he will do well to be picked in place of former Brentford man, Bryan Mbeumo, who has enjoyed a solid start to his Man Utd career. Lisandro Martinez remains a long-term absentee, and Casemiro is suspended.

Predicted lineup: Lammens (GK), Yoro, Maguire, De Ligt, Amad, Ugarte, Fernandes, Dorgu, Mbeumo, Cunha, Sesko

Last five results

  • Man Utd 2-1 Chelsea
  • Man City 3-0 Man Utd
  • Man Utd 3-2 Burnley
  • Grimsby 2-2 Man Utd
  • Fulham 1-1 Man Utd

Brentford preview: Duo near a return

Keith Andrews could welcome Gustavo Nunes and Paris Maghoma back into the squad this weekend, but the pair still need to pass tests after recovering from their respective injuries. Former Liverpool skipper Jordan Henderson will be desperate to get the win on Saturday, and he has started well at Brentford.

Predicted lineup: Stolarczyk (GK), Van den Berg, Collins, Pinnock, Kayode, Henderson, Yarmoliuk, Lewis-Potter, Damsgaard, Schade, Thiago

Last five results

  • Fulham 3-1 Brentford
  • Brentford 1-1 Aston Villa
  • Brentford 2-2 Chelsea
  • Sunderland 2-1 Brentford
  • Bournemouth 0-2 Brentford

Player to watch: Bryan Mbeumo

Bryan Mbeumo has scored two goals so far since signing for Manchester United, and he will be keen to add to that tally against his former employers on Saturday. The Cameroonian should get an excellent reception at the Gtech after what he did for Brentford, but that won't stop him from giving everything to get the three points.
