Whisper+ analysis
Authenticity (4/5): Leverkusen eyeing Flekken move
Leverkusen are believed to be considering Brentford's Flekken as one of three goalkeeper targets ahead of the summer transfer window.
That is according to Sky Germany's Florian Plettenburg, who claims Leverkusen have already held initial talks over the potential move, although their interest is still said to be at an early stage.
Value (4/5): Affordable price
Flekken is under contract with the Bees until the summer of 2027. However, Plettenburg indicates that Brentford will consider sanctioning a sale if they receive an offer in the region of €15m (£12.8m).
Suitability (3.5/5): Bundesliga experience
Flekken has been busy in between the posts this season, having made 127 saves across his 30 Premier League appearances – more than any other goalkeeper in the top flight.
The Dutchman also has previous experience of competing in the German top flight after featuring in 80 Bundesliga matches during his time at Freiburg.
Upgrade? (3.5/5): Kovar replacement
Leverkusen are keen to strengthen their goalkeeping department, with Matej Kovar likely to depart in the summer transfer window. The reigning Bundesliga champions also appear to be looking to find a suitable candidate who can challenge Lukas Hradecky for the number one spot.
Logic (4/5): Looking for new challenge
There is seemingly a belief that Flekken is ready to take the next steps after spending two seasons with Brentford. Leverkusen will also be able to offer Flekken the chance to play in the Champions League.
Whisper+ verdict: 19/25
Brentford would surely be reluctant to sanction Flekken's departure. However, they may struggle to keep hold of the goalkeeper if Leverkusen come calling, especially as the move would give Flekken the chance to play in Europe and potentially challenge for silverware.
