Braga vs Vitoria Guimaraes team news

Braga

Braga made the trip to Casa Pia for their last match of 2023. Following a goalless first half, Braga took the lead via Joao Moutinho but Casa Pia got back onto level terms thanks to a seventy-fourth-minute penalty. The visitors responded really well to being pinned back, taking the lead for a second time via top scorer Simon Banza and securing their victory with an eighty-eighth-minute effort from Rodrigo Zalazar.

Braga have a clean bill of health and no suspended players ahead of Saturday's clash with Vitoria Guimaraes.

Predicted Lineup: Matheus (GK), Borja, Gómez, Niakaté, Saatçı, Moutinho, Pizzi, A. Horta, R. Horta & Banza

Vitoria Guimaraes

Guimaraes had the home advantage against Rio Ave last time out but this game turned out to be tight and tense throughout. The first forty-five ended goalless as both teams struggled in the final third but shortly after the hour mark, Guimaraes were awarded a penalty which Tiago Silva converted. The home side held on to win the match 1-0 and remain within touching distance of this weekend's hosts Braga.

Guimaraes have no injuries to concern them ahead of the trip to Braga which should make for a close and competitive match-up.

Predicted Lineup: Varela (GK), Gaspar, Fernandes, Mangas, Borevković, Ribeiro, T. Silva, Händel, J. Silva, da Luz & Butzke

Player to Watch: Ricardo Horta

Braga's long-serving forward Ricardo Horta has started thirteen league games this season and has chipped in with seven goals.

The Portuguese international has made it to double figures on four previous occasions whilst playing for Braga, the best of which was in 2021/22 when the striker netted nineteen goals in the Primeira Liga alone.

We're backing Horta to put in a good display against Vitoria Guimaraes, one that will help lead his team to a big three points against one of their competitors for the European places.
