It's time for our Portugal League predictions ahead of Sunday's big game between Sporting and Braga. Sporting sit two points behind arch-rivals Benfica who top the Primeira Liga table but Sunday's hosts still have a game in hand. Fourth-placed Braga provide the opposition this weekend and should prove a tough nut for Sporting to crack and one will end up playing in next season's Europa League.

Sporting vs Braga prediction – Betting tips & odds

Hot Tip – Sporting to Win

  • Sporting have won two of their last four meetings with Braga in all competitions, losing just once during that period.
  • Sporting have won five of their last six matches in league and cup.

Another reason that we have backed Sporting to win as our main prediction for this game is that Braga lost 2-0 in their lat away game against one of Portugal's top three teams.

Sporting vs Braga team news

Sporting

Sporting scored eight goals without reply in their last league game at home to Casa Pia. This one-sided match saw Trincao, Sebastian Coates and Viktor Gyokeres all help themselves to a couple of goals each while Pote and Geny Catamo also got on the scoresheet in what was a truly dominating display from the home side.

Jerry St. Juste and Iván Fresneda could both miss Sunday's game through injury.

Predicted Lineup: Adán (GK), Coates, Esgaio, Quaresma, Inácio, Santos, Hjulmand, Pote, Edwards, Gyökeres & Trincão

Braga

Braga did just enough at home to Moreirense to claim all three points last weekend. An early goal after just eight minutes from Abel Ruiz proved to be all Braga needed to defeat their guests, along with a solid defensive display of course. Braga remains nine points behind Sporting having played one game more.

Simon Banza will miss the game against Benfica as he is representing Congo DR in their Third-Place Play-Off at AFCON 2023.

Predicted Lineup: Matheus (GK), Fonte, Oliveira, Borja, Gómez, Moutinho, Carvalho, Zalazar, Horta, Ruiz & Djaló

Player to Watch: Viktor Gyokeres

Sporting's Swedish striker has starred in his debut season with the club, netting fifteen goals in the league alone with around half of the campaign still yet to play.

The former Coventry City forward was seen as many as a gamble due to a lack of pace but Gyokeres has answered all his critics with his keen eye for goal and consistency.

We're backing Gyokeres to enjoy another positive game against Braga this weekend and wouldn't back against the Swede scoring the winning goal.
