Whisper+ analysis
Authenticity (3.5/5): Cherries chasing Lucumi
Bournemouth are trying to beat off the intense competition for Bologna's Colombian star Jhon Lucumi, as they look to revamp their defence.
The story comes from French publication Footmercato, which adds the Cherries have already submitted an offer for the 26-year-old.
Value (3/5): Bid already made
Bournemouth have offered £12.6m plus bonuses for Lucumi. However, Bologna are yet to accept their offer, as they are under no pressure to sell their star defender after qualifying for the Europa League. As such, the Premier League giants may need to offer more to secure Lucumi's services.
Suitability (4/5): Left-footed monster
Lucumi is a colossal presence at the back for Bologna, having grabbed the attention with his physicality and aggressive defending. At the same time, the left-footed centre-back is very comfortable with the ball at his feet. A proper modern-day centre-back!
Upgrade? (4/5): Huijsen replacement
Bournemouth have lost Dean Huijsen to Real Madrid this summer. As such, Andoni Iraola is determined to sign a new centre-back, and Lucumi certainly has the skill sets to fill Huijsen's void.
Logic (2.5/5): Plenty of options
Lucumi is also on the radar of many Serie A clubs. If the Colombian is looking for a new challenge, the Premier League could be the right step for him. But the temptation to remain in Italy and compete for major trophies could prove to be too tempting to overlook.
Whisper+ verdict: 17/25
Bournemouth have the financial might to meet Bologna's demands, but Lucumi could hold out for a move to a more high-profile side.
