Both Teams to Score (Yes)

Both teams have scored in six of Hoffenheim's last seven matches

In a battle at the bottom of the Bundesliga table, Borussia Monchengladbach will welcome Hoffenheim to Borussia Park on Sunday.

Sitting last in 18th with no points after five matchweeks, the hosts cannot afford to lose again when they take on Hoffenheim, who are 17th with three points.

Gladbach have not only lost all five of their opening Bundesliga games, but they have also made the fifth worst start in the history of the competition.

The good news for the hosts is that since 1963-64, the team occupying last place at this stage has only been relegated 22 times, though teams at the bottom at this stage have been demoted 12 times over the past 26 years.

Head coach Alexander Blessin will be taking charge of his second game in the dugout, though he will hope to avoid a second defeat after witnessing his side lose 2-1 against FC Koln on October 11.

With Gladbach defender Ko Itakura ruled out because of an ankle issue, perhaps the home team will field a defence consisting of Daiki Hashioka, Kevin Diks and Jan Leszczynski.

Hoffenheim may have only narrowly missed out on Champions League qualification last season, but the early stages of the current campaign has left them in a battle for survival.

Manager Christian Ilzer oversaw a 3-2 defeat against Hamburger SV last weekend, as well as a 3-2 loss against Besiktas on Thursday in the Europa League.

The visitors lost the corresponding fixture 4-0 last season, though they emerged as 5-1 victors against Gladbach in January 2026 at home.

Hoffenheim forward Patrick Wimmer has been ruled out due to a hamstring issue, and his absence makes the selection of Tim Lemperle and Fisnik Asllani straightforward.

Whispers predicts: Borussia Monchengladbach 1-3 Hoffenheim

Despite playing away from home, the bookmakers view a Hoffenheim win favourably, backing an away victory at 21/20 (2.05).

Both teams have scored in six of Hoffenheim's last seven games, so a strong starting bet would be Both Teams to Score at 4/11 (1.36).

Given Gladbach have conceded at least three goals in four of their last five Bundesliga games, it could be sensible to predict Over 2.5 Goals for Hoffenheim at 2/1 (3).

Hoffenheim forward Tim Lemperle has averaged the most shots per 90 in the league of any player in the squad (4.6), so there may be value in predicting Tim Lemperle to Score First at 11/2 (6.5).

📈 Borussia Monchengladbach vs. Hoffenheim — Whispers' Tips
