Bayer Leverkusen to Score First

Bayer Leverkusen have opened the scoring in each of their last six games

The first-placed visitors have 13 points from a possible 15, whereas fourth-placed Leverkusen have 10 points, and with so much at stake on the weekend, there may not be a better time to take advantage of a Betfred sign-up offer.

Leverkusen come into Sunday's match on the back of a 4-3 win against Mainz 05 in gameweek five of the Bundesliga, as well as a 4-0 success against Lech Poznan on Thursday.

The hosts are unbeaten in their last seven meetings with Freiburg, emerging as victors on four occasions.

Head coach Carles Martinez's side began their league campaign with a damaging 3-2 loss against Elversberg, but they have since won six times and drawn once in all competitions.

The continued absence of right-back Guela Doue means that centre-back Jarell Quansah is almost certain to retain his place on the right side of defence.

Freiburg have enjoyed an exceptional start to the season, with the club currently unbeaten in their nine games in 2026-27, and they managed to win eight of those clashes.

Their most recent result was a Conference League victory against Jablonec, who they beat 3-2 on Thursday, though the close scoreline does not truly reflect the dominance they exerted over 90 minutes.

Boss Julian Schuster will be delighted by the fact his side are leading both third-placed Bayern Munich (11) and Borussia Dortmund (13), and they may have the chance to move five points ahead of the former when they clash in matchweek seven.

The suspension of number 10 Yuito Suzuki means fans should expect to see Vincenzo Grifo stationed behind striker Igor Matanovic.

Whispers predicts: Bayer Leverkusen 2-2 Freiburg

A draw at 16/5 (4.2) should not be discounted, though the bookmakers do favour a Bayer Leverkusen win at 7/10 (1.7).

The hosts have opened the scoring in each of their last six games, and that makes betting Bayer Leverkusen to Score First at 11/20 (1.55) a sensible prediction.

Considering at least four goals have been scored in seven of Freiburg's nine games this season, it would make sense to predict Over 3.5 Goals at 11/10 (2.1).

Though Igor Matanovic has not scored in his last two games for Freiburg, he is averaging the most shots per 90 in the squad in the Bundesliga (3.9), so there could be value in a bet of Igor Matanovic to Score at 2/1 (3).

📈 Bayer Leverkusen vs. Freiburg — Whispers' Tips

> Bayer Leverkusen to Score First at 11/20 (1.55) | Likelihood: High

> Over 3.5 Goals at 11/10 (2.1) | Likelihood: Medium
