Team News, Preview, and Boreham Wood vs West Ham Lineups
Boreham Wood
This is an amateur club that plays in England's fifth-tier football system. The manager Luke Garrard has been in charge of the team for the past eight years and he is entering his final contract season. Garrard is 37 years old. Boreham Wood doesn't have money to spend on new players, so the ones that come in are usually on free transfers or an occasional loan deal. This is the same way that their players are being transferred out of the club. Timmy Abraham, Mo Sagaf, Angelo Balanta, and Tom Whelan are new additions to the team while Will Evans, Dennon Lewis, Danny Newton, Mark Ricketts, and Josh Rees are notable departures.
Provisional lineup: Ashmore, Abraham, Agbontohoma, Balanta, Fyfield, Ilesanmi, Marsh, Payne, Sousa, Stephens, Whelan.
West Ham
After winning their first European trophy, the situation at West Ham is still celebratory. Especially, after the club finally sold their star midfielder Declan Rice in a 100 million pound transfer to Arsenal. Arthur Masuaku and Manuel Lanzini have also left, but what is troubling the fans is the current transfer policies at the club concerning the arrival of new players. The problem is that they haven't been any new players coming. The new Premiership season will start in six weeks and the team still hasn't found any new players while losing their best. Gianluca Scamacca is injured at the moment.
Provisional lineup: Areola, Aguerd, Kehrer, Ogbonna, Emerson, Coventry, Downes, Benrahma, Cornet, Ings, Antonio.
Player to Watch: Flynn Downes
The 24-year-old finished his first season at the club after joining last summer from Swansea. He participated in 35 games but statistically didn't impress without any goals scored or delivering an assist or two. However, the club management is convinced that his best days are coming, and with Declan Rice moving to Arsenal, there will be plenty of chances for Downes to make his mark.
Downes should earn his 200th professional appearance in football since starting his career at Ipswich before moving to Luton and eventually toward Swansea. The Hammers believe that Downes is integral to their plans and it will be interesting to see how the club reacts in the open market looking at his position.
Starting lineups
