Braga vs Benfica prediction – Betting tips & odds

Hot Tip – Under 2.5 Goals

  • The last two meetings between these two clubs have ended with under 2.5 goals being scored.
  • Three of Benfica's last five outings have produced under 2.5 goals.

Another reason that we have backed under 2.5 goals as our main prediction for this game is that three of Braga's last six outings in all competitions have witnessed fewer than three goals.

Braga vs Benfica team news

Braga

Braga were away at Vizela last time out but that didn't stop the visitors from claiming all three points. Top goalscorer Simon Banza netted a brace as Braga ran out 3-1 winners, moving to within a point of Benfica as a result.

Sunday's hosts have no fresh injury concerns or suspended players ahead of the visit of Benfica.

Predicted Lineup: Matheus (GK), Oliveira, Borja, Saatçı, Mendes, Pizzi, Carvalho, Zalazar, Horta, Banza & Bruma

Benfica

Benfica should have beaten Farense at home on paper but in the end, they had to settle for a point. The first forty-five ended goalless but Farese took the lead early in the second half. Benfica needed a response but did not get one until after they had made a couple of substitutions. A seventy-first-minute goal from Rafa earned Benfica a share of the spoils but really, the hosts would have been expecting to win the game.

David Neres and Alexander Bah won't be making the trip to Braga this weekend due to injury.

Predicted Lineup: Trubin (GK), Otamendi, Morato, Silva, Di María, Mário, Aursnes, Rafa, Kökçü, Neves & Tengstedt

Player to Watch: Simon Banza

Nobody has scored more league goals in the Primeira Liga than Simon Banza this season.

The Braga striker has scored thirteen times in thirteen games for Braga and his nearest competition for the Golden Boot award in Portugal this season is Victor Gyokeres of Sporting Lisbon who has nine goals.

We're backing Banza to continue his good form in front of goal against the Portuguese giants Benfica but it might not prove enough to win what is expected to be a very tight and tense ninety minutes on Sunday.
