Bayern managed to claim the Bundesliga title on April 19, so it came as no surprise to see them name a weaker side against Mainz 05 last weekend, especially as they faced PSG on Tuesday.

The Bavarians trailed 3-0 at half time against Mainz, but they managed to score four second-half goals to win 4-3, though the four goals they scored in Paris against PSG were not enough to avoid defeat.

Vincent Kompany was questioned in the aftermath of the loss about his side's defensive frailties, but it would be harsh to be overly critcial of his team given they played their part in producing one of the greatest ever Champions League semi-final games.

Considering Bayern are certain to give their full attention to the second leg next week, they are set to rotate heavily once again, with Nicolas Jackson's inclusion in the team ahead of striker Harry Kane likely.

Perhaps changes can also be expected in defence, especially as centre-backs Dayot Upamecano and Jonathan Tah will need to do plenty of running when they face PSG's forwards again.

Heidenheim have effectively been condemned to a bottom-three finish already, meaning the highest position they can hope to end the season in is in the 16th-placed relegation playoff spot.

However, they are four points behind 16th-placed St Pauli with three matchweeks remaining, meaning a defeat on the weekend and a win for St Pauli against Mainz 05 on Sunday would officially confirm relegation.

Manager Frank Schmidt has confirmed that he will leave at the end of next season upon the expiry of his contract, and given he has been in charge since 2007 and has overseen the club's rise from the fifth tier, he has earned the right to leave on his terms.

It should be noted that the visitors come into the weekend's clash in strong form having won two of their last three, and they also managed to draw their prior two, picking up more points over their last five matches (eight) than they did in their previous 14 fixtures (six).

Schmidt may field a central pairing of Patrick Mainka and Jonas Fohrenbach in defence if Benedikt Gimber cannot overcome the knock that he is dealing with.

Whispers predicts: Bayern Munich 3-2 Heidenheim

Bayern will be seen as overwhelming favourites, with a home victory priced at 1.22, but the visitors cannot be discounted given their form.

Indeed, with Bayern looking vulnerable at the back and the away side having improved offensively, there could be serious value in predicting Over 1.5 Goals for Heidenheim, with the bookmakers pricing that at 3.4.

While Heidenheim may be able to trouble the hosts, Kompany's side have still been irresistible in the final third, so it is not surprising to see Over 2.5 Goals for Bayern Munich valued at 1.62.

Considering the visitors have often looked more threatening after the interval when playing away from home, it may make sense to back Bayern Munich to Win at Half Time at 1.55.
