Authenticity (3/5): Bayern reignite Araujo interest

Bayern Munich have been linked with a potential move for Ronald Araujo in the past two transfer windows, but a transfer ultimately failed to materialise as the Uruguayan stayed put at Barcelona.

However, according to Sport, Bayern have renewed their interest in the Barcelona defender ahead of the summer transfer window. The German giants have enquired to gather more information about a potential deal.

Value (3/5): Araujo has Barcelona release clause

Araujo signed a new deal in January to extend his stay with Barcelona until the summer of 2031. However, the contract contains a  €65m (£55m) release clause which will be valid from July 1 to July 15.

Suitability (3.5/5): Potential leader for Bayern

Araujo would add leadership to Vincent Kompany's squad, demonstrated by the fact that he is one of the captains at Barcelona. The 26-year-old also has plenty of experience, having made 170 competitive appearances during his time with the Catalan giants.

Upgrade? (3.5/5): Kim Min-jae replacement

The Bavarians are looking at potential options to replace Kim Min-jae, who could be sold in the summer transfer window amid interest from Chelsea, Newcastle United and Juventus.

Araujo could be a worthy replacement, although they were also considering Barcelona-linked Jonathan Tah, with the Bayer Leverkusen defender set to become a free agent this summer.

Logic (3.5/5): Search for regular game time

Araujo has experienced a tough season with Barcelona after he missed the first half of the campaign through injury. The Uruguay international has since found regular starting opportunities hard to come by, with Hansi Flick tending to use Pau Cubarsi and Inigo Martinez as his first-choice centre-back partnership.

He could be open to the chance to join another top European club in a bid to gain regular minutes.

Whisper+ verdict: 16.5/25

Araujo could be open to the prospect of joining Bayern after falling behind Cubarsi and Martinez in the pecking order. With that said, it remains to be seen whether the Bavarians are open to paying his release clause.
