Aston Villa are set to take on Crystal Palace on Sunday, 31 August, with both teams looking for their first wins of the new season.
The hosts have picked up just one point from their opening two matches, and a defeat here could leave them in the bottom three during the first international break of the season.
Crystal Palace, meanwhile, have drawn both of their matches, but their performances have warranted at least one victory.

Aston Villa vs Crystal Palace prediction: Another draw for the Eagles
Key Stats
- Aston Villa have failed to win any of their last three Premier League matches.
- Crystal Palace have drawn four of their five competitive matches so far this season.
- Fewer than three goals have been scored in each of the four PL matches these two teams have played this season.
Correct score prediction: Aston Villa 1-1 Crystal Palace
Goals have been hard to come by for both clubs so far this season, so it would be a shock if this match suddenly turned into a goalfest. Once the transfer window shuts and attacking players on both sides establish that they're staying put, fluency may return in the final third.
Pre-game odds and win probability: Villa start as favourites
- HOME: 5/6 (1.83) – 54.5%
- DRAW: 5/2 (3.50) – 28.5%
- AWAY: 16/5 (4.20) – 23.8%
*odds from Ladbrokes, subject to change
The Aston Villa vs Crystal Palace odds are weighted in favour of the hosts, and they have perhaps been priced overly short considering their poor start to the campaign. Ladbrokes have given Villa a 54.5% chance of winning the match, while Crystal Palace have been given a 23.8% chance of victory.

Most recent H2Hs: Palace domination
Another reason why Aston Villa's price of 5/6 is too short is their recent record against the Eagles. Crystal Palace are unbeaten in their last five matches against the Villains, recording four wins and one draw. In better news for the hosts, Crystal Palace haven't won a league match at Villa Park since 2013.

Aston Villa preview: Konsa returns
Ezri Konsa will return to the Aston Villa starting XI this weekend, after serving his one-match ban last weekend. While Konsa comes in, Boubacar Kamara will go out, after the former Marseille midfielder was forced off with a thigh injury against Brentford last week. Kamara joins Ross Barkley and Andres Garcia on the sidelines.

Crystal Palace preview: A debut for Pina?
Crystal Palace didn't waste any time in replacing Eberechi Eze, bringing in the talented Yeremy Pino from Villarreal. Pino is likely to start on Sunday, not least because the club are facing a mini injury crisis already. Will Hughes, Eddie Nketiah, Chadi Riad, Cheick Doucoure, Caleb Kporha, Matheus Franca and Odsonne Edouard are all expected to miss out.
Predicted lineup: Henderson (GK), Richards, Lacroix, Guehi, Munoz, Lerma, Wharton, Mitchell, Sarr, Devenny, Mateta

Player to watch: Ollie Watkins

Ollie Watkins has cut a disinterested figure over Aston Villa's first two games of the season, with the England striker perhaps still put out over the fact he had to take a backseat role over the last six months of last season due to the temporary signing of Marcus Rashford. Emery needs to find a way to get Watkins back to his best and fast.
