After just missing out on Champions League football in the 2024/25 campaign, Aston Villa cannot look back. Manager Unai Emery will be hoping they can qualify this time around, with the aid of their January signings.
There were plenty of Aston Villa transfer targets circulating in January, who eventually joined the club. Nonetheless, let us look back at how those signings have done so far.

Aston Villa new signings January 2026
Tammy Abraham (Besiktas)
Tammy Abraham returned for a second spell at Villa as he signed from Besiktas for around £18m.
Abraham signing grade: B
Abraham has already netted on his return, and has provided stern competition for Ollie Watkins up front.
Alysson (Gremio)
Alysson was signed from Gremio for around £9m.
Alysson signing grade: C
While Alysson has provided squad depth in the forward areas, he has perhaps failed to live up to expectations so far.
Douglas Luiz (Juventus)
Douglas Luiz also returned to the club, this time on loan from Juventus.
Luiz signing grade: A
With Villa's injury crisis in midfield, Luiz has been able to slot in quickly, and on loan, his signing provided little risk.
